.I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man
who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the washer or dryer ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and found that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video made it possible for me to do my own repair. If you are repairing a dryer or a front load washer I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on both washers and dryers as well as other appliances. If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart this video is an early christmas present. I was so impressed with it that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about it. If you look at the back of your washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video is just what you need. You can see it at www.acmehowto.com You will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. After viewing the video or if you have a v-belt drive rather than a direct drive, I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair nformation on most
washers and dryers. I think you'll find what you need
there. Don't worry about the timer, they hardly ever
go bad. Good luck with it. If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

I have a Whirlpool duet gas dryer model WGD9400SUO. I can hear the heat turn on but it no longer stays on.

Hi,

Please make sure that you've removed all of the lint from your dryer prior to every cycle. Next, try to see if the varying the load size effects whether your clothes are heated or not.

If all else fails, please schedule an inspection by Whirlpool by calling 1 (866) 698-2538. Thank you.

Why does take 3 cycles to dry towel?7 year old kenmore dryer

First run the dryer for a few minutes and check the interior to see if it is warm. If it is warm check the airflow at the outside vent with the dryer running. if the airflow is good, Then it depends if it is an electric or gas dryer. For a gas dryer suspect intermittent coils on the gas valves. (a common problem) Check and see if the drum rotates when you quickly open the door with the dryer running. On Kenmore dryers the motor will still run without the drum turning if the belt is broken. If it does not heat up at all suspect the thermal fuse ( The number 1 cause of no Heat on gas dryers). Also make sure the gas valve is open.

Kenmore elite gas dryer doesn't always heat or dry clothes

An intermittent heat problem is probably in the gas igniter circuit. I would first check the flame sensor next to the igniter for dust on the glass cover. If you have a trouble door, you can see if the igniter is working. Sometimes gas valve controls will fail. If you have to replace the whole control, check inside the plumbing for filters.

Kenmore Elite HE3 Gas Dryer no heat

Verify the glow bar ignitor is working. Also ohm it to specs before you replace a gas valve coil.

Fuse blowing

Your exhaust vent is blocked.
Timed dry is High heat.
Permanent press is a medium heat and intermittent.
The dryer does not get as hot as often in Permanent press mode. Therefore the fuse does not reach critacal and blow.
Remove the vent at the rear of the dryer and run a timed load.
If it dries correctly, repair your vent blockage.
If not, repost and I will lead you to the next step.

Kenmore 70 Series

You probably have an open thermal fuse, the dryer will run in some cases and not heat, Just moving air across you clothes will dry them however it takes forever.

If you are electrical or mechanical replace the thermal fuse yourself if not call someone you trust, you can purchase thermal fuses on line from Sears.com just do a parts search for you specific dryer.
