Re: washing machine spine

You have something jamming your water pump you may have to cleanout the pump and replace the motor coupling Well I'm going to do my best to fix your washer. First unplug the washer and turn off the water. If you have a shop vac take the drain hose out of the drain, and through the drain hose vacuum the water out of your washer. If you don't have a shop vac go to the auto parts store and buy a pair of radiator hose clamps . Then facing the washer locate the two screws. They will either be in the front or rear of the control panel and back them out far as you can. Once you have done that pull the control panel slightly forward, and tilt it back on the hinges. Now unplug the lid switch wire but don't forget to plug it back when your done. Next locate at the rear of the washer body the two gold clips then push forward, and take careful note of how they fit. Then pop them out with a screw driver tilt the washer body forward at 45 degree angel and walk forward with the body, and set it down. Now you will see the white pump and motor assembly. You should see two clips holding the pump to the motor pop them off, and pull the pump off the motor shaft. Now if you fell the need to remove the pump use the radiator hose clamp. take them and clamp the hose coming from the tub but its not necessary for the repair. Next disconnect the wiring harness from the motor (note the position of the harness for reassembly). Remove the two 5/16 inch screws from the motor clamps and pop the clamps off. Once that is complete, remove the motor put the new coupling on the motor and transmission shaft. I use a socket and a hammer

There is a bad odour coming from my washing machine

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults', including bad odours, are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my guidance notes for checking both the drain filter and the drain motor ;-0)

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Now- if all is OK with the washer, turn your attention to the u-bend and pipes/hoses into and through which the washer water is drained. Check to make sure the odours are not coming from there just in case!
Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Nasty odour coming from inside machine even after numerous cleans with hot water, detergents, vinegar and bicarb of soda. These were done individually over quite a period of time but the smell still...

you may need to remove the inner wash tub and access the outer tub to clean out all the spent soap, detergent, fabric softener that hasn't been drained during previous washes and have now created a sewage mold from just sitting there, also make sure all the drain hoses and the pump are clear and there are no hoses kinked all the way to the drain

Mildrew, stale water smell in laundry

Run a very hot wash on your machine with no load

Fill a bucket with a strong solution of soda crystals and pour it into the machine first

Add some more crystals to the soap dispenser

Use an old fashioned soap powder for a couple of washes as well and reduce the load slightly

Modern soap powders do not contain certain bleaches and soda and the 40 degree wash leaves body fats and oils inside which cause odours

Pav2300aww spinning very slow, and not draining

In all these Cases it sounds like a faulty lip seal. These special seals have Sealed bearings inside. Water gets through the seal and into the bearing which causes it to thump (like a helicopter) or squeal very loudly. As far as draining, the machine has to reach a curtain speed before the pump can turn fast enough to work.

Bad Odour from Drum

The smell that you are getting is stale soap build up between the inner drum and outer tub caused by frequent use of low temp progs. to remedy this problem do a 90 degree prog with some old towels this will melt the old soap, if you still have the problem add some soda crystals and do the 90 degree wash again failing this your drain hose may be to low causing dirty water from the sink to back drain in to the w/m, raise level of drain hose. hope this is of some help murdozzz
