my zen player is stuck on recovery mode and i can't seem to get out of it. I tried but success, please help me

  • Sisililiy Mar 09, 2008

Mine is doing the same. It is stuck on the screen where it looks like a song should be playing, but only the name is moving (its too long so it keeps cycling through, this is normal). None of the buttons do anything, and the reset is returning it the exact same place it was before (frozen). It will tell me it is charged when I attach it to my PC, but the creative software doesn't recognize it and it. It also doesn't go to the docking page. Help please!

my Zen is stuck in recovery mode but i've tried everything and its still not fixed. Clean up, Reboot, and Format All does nothing and whenever i press reset it just goes back to recovery mode. I've tried letting the batter run out and then charging it up again but that does nothing either

It will turn on but is frozen - then then only way to turn it off is to reset. This is a Zen creative (credit card size)

Since the reset does not work using the reset hole, then try this: First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!

Creative zen

First off, download the Firmware upgrade from Creative (http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nDriverType=4#type_4)

Don't run it just yet!

Now, go into the Zen Micro's Recovery Mode:

1. Take out the battery
2. Press and hold the ON/LOCK button in the ON position (far left) and put the battery back in the player.
3. The player will then switch on - wait until "Recovery Mode" appears on the screen then let go of the ON/LOCK button.

The Recovery Mode options include an option to "Reload Firmware".

Now connect your Zen Micro to your PC and run the Firmware upgrade. Your player should be recognized by the Firmware uploader. If it isn't, then then your player has other damage.

My 16GB creative zen is on recovery mode after installing an upgraded soft ware

You must give it the firmware upgrade from support.creative.com, or it will not be able to get out of this mode. Support.creative.com

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If all else fails, check with this guy:

Recovery Mode

I agree, use the Reload Firmware tool on recovery mode and then upgrade the firmware from the website. If you get "firmware failed!", then try it from a different computer.

I suggest that you return the unit to a dealer and see if there support guys can produce a cure for you. I am looking for any other things that you may try. Will post any for you soon
