SOURCE: canon bjc 80 printer- no driver- ibm thinkpad laptop- compatible?
You can download the software from Canon.
Here is the page to download the driver from:
BJC Support
Click on the "Drivers & Downloads" tab. Select your operating system from the dropdown menu. (Windows 98)
Click on the red link for the driver BJ_v397.exe.
When the download window opens, select "Save" and select a location you know how to access after the download. For an easy way, save it to your Desktop.
After the download, connect the printer, turn it on. Then run (doubleclick) the file you saved.
SOURCE: Compatibility with Vista, or are drivers available.
by looking at the table in this link, supposely this printer works fine as plug n play to your vista...no driver installation is needed....
hope this will help ; )

SOURCE: I want to buy a Canon bjc 80 (or maybe a bjc 85)
The Canon BJC 85 is fully compatible with Windows 7. I sell these printers and have sold MANY to windows 7 users. " NO ACTION REQUIRED " is because the printer is " plug and play". You plug it in, the computer will recognize it, and install it. NO CD is required. It is best, with Windows 7, to be connected to the internet when plugging in the printer. Some versions of 7 require an update from Microsoft and that gets downloaded and installed if needed.
The BJC 80 is a different issue. If you are running a laptop with Windows 7, you probably DO NOT have a parallel port. The BJC 80 requires a parallel port for connection. The USB to Parallel adapter cables sold aftermarket to connect these printers to the USB port DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. Trust me on this. Those cables are ' iffy" at best and mostly don't function right. Plus many of the newer computers do not recognize the BJC 80.
Just get a BJC 85, which has the USB port, and it solves all the problems.
