Installation of audiophile 192

Here is a list computer beeps and what they mean.

• No Beeps: Short, No power, Bad CPU/MB, Loose Peripherals
• One Beep: Everything is normal and Computer POSTed fine
• Two Beeps: POST/CMOS Error
• One Long Beep, One Short Beep: Motherboard Problem

• One Long Beep, Two Short Beeps: Video Problem
• One Long Beep, Three Short Beeps: Video Problem
• Three Long Beeps: Keyboard Error
• Repeated Long Beeps: Memory Error
• Continuous Hi-Lo Beeps: CPU Overheating
  

Most times the beeping is caused by a bad/loose connection somewhere or card not seated properly.
Try disconnecting and reconnecting everything again. Make sure that all the power plugs are connected properly even if you didn't mess with them. Moving things around can sometimes be enough to give you the "BEEPS". ";-}


If you are still having much beeping and no computing you can try my personal favorite.

Start first with verbal threats. Next move to a second floor window and, while you explain whats going to happen if it doesn't knock it off, open the window.

If that fails give it the pitch.
Believe it or not I have used this technique and after reassembly and repair.....No more beep.

Hi, Please install the Audiophile 192 drivers 1st "without" physically installing the Audiophile 192. Then shut down the computer and physically install the 192 and start your computer, Note, this may seem un-appropriate, but is the correct way. M-Audio's Audiophile 192 is a well thought out sound solution with different series drivers, each are applicable to your particular Operating System with more than 1 driver for older O.S.'s Please, if you have installed the card incorrectly ? Uninstall by the advise on there site, which is well laid out and will let you know what leftover files to delete after an uninstall. This method is also used to change a driver to a different revision of driver, read the trouble shooting section to make an informed decision as to the correct driver your O.S. will need so you can enjoy this great product.

Firstly, did you make sure the card was inserted correctly and in the correct slot..? Next, has the card fouled against any other component.? Have you tried removing the card and booting the machine..? did it boot without the card..? Many mainboards are very sensitive to static discharge, did you touch the metal chassis of the machine BEFORE you inserted the card..? Try removing EVERYTHING from the board except the CPU, leave that alone. Now turn it on. If it powers up (it will beep if no memory is installed) start replacing each card or memory stick one at a time and powering up between each one. When the system stops powering up, the last item you installed is the issue. If you get everything back in the machine and it now works fine, you had a bad or corroded connection on something and not necessarily on the sound card. The easiest way to clean the contacts is to remove and refit the card as the connectors will clean themselves if you do this..
