Your system may be infected with virus or spyware, first clean the system and then try using the external devices,

if still the problem persists then run a command on command promt in windows, run command line

click start select run then type in sfc /scannow
make sure you have the operating system disk in your primary optical drive cd/dvd drive.

My flash dive is not work pc is not recognize it

Windows XP, Vista , or Windows 7 should be able to automatically detect and install it. Try using it on another computer that has either Windows XP, Vista , or Windows 7 on it. If it doesn't automatically detect and install it on that one then the flashdrive is dead.

If you have an older operating system then go here to download the driver:

Sandisk Cruzer 8gb Error

Make sure you are logged in as an administrator. I'd also try the thumb drive in a different computer just to make sure the problem isn't with the thumb drive itself. The drive could also be unformatted, or formatted with a filesystem for a different platform that can't be read by XP.

My computer is running on Windows XP. When I plug in a Sandisk minicruzer 4 gig flash drive, it zaps the computer and makes it reboot. How can I stop this? Thanks.

First make sure that you have all your updates including Service Pack 2 then try installing the drive. Have you tried to use this flash drive on another computer to make sure it works?

My Windows XP is no longer recognizing my cruzer 8gb

With the flash drive plugged into your computer, go to start>settings>control panel>administrative tools>computer management>disk management
Your flash drive should be there. Right click it and select "change drive letter and paths." Click on "change." Change the drive letter.
Just follow the directions to finish.

Sometimes, if you turn the computer on, insert the flash drive, and reboot, the drive will show up, it is detected on start along with your other drives.

(I recommend starting at the end of the alphabet (Z) and work backwards when selecting the drive letters for flash drives, that way, in the future it will be easier to recognize them.)

Inserting SanDisk Cruzer in USB, REBOOTS the Computer instantly

Not sure if this is the problem, but I just found out that in some BIOS menus, there are 3 options for your USB controller...Enable...Disable...No Boot.

If you know how to get to your BIOS, it's worth a shot to make sure it is set to "No Boot" if it is an option.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 crashes my system!

Hi marykins,

When you say 'crash' does this mean the system reboots, freezes up entirely, or blue screens?

I've seen similar issues when the USB 2.0 host controller isn't enabled in the System (BIOS) setup. Many devices, such as USB mice and MP3 players and even flash drives, will show up and some will function, but if the USB is required to act as a host controller, devices such as external hard drives and (sometimes) flash drives will either not show up at all on the computer or will crash it.

I'd suggest first looking in the BIOS setup to make sure that both the USB host controller and USB legacy support are enabled.
