I would suggest 2 things.
Open the PC up and reseat the RAM stick/s.
Also reseat the graphics card if applicable.
If the monitor still doesnt get sync take out the pci cards and see if it will POST.
If so plug your PCI cards back in one at a time to diagnose which is the faulty one.
Also it could be your graphics card, take it out and use the O/B graphics see if the monitor will get sync off the O/B.
If this doesnt help please supply more information.

First make sure usb cable connected to harddrive is working fine.
try it in different usb ports.
Press windows key +R key so you can see run then type in run "devmgmt.msc" then press ok so you can see device manager uninstall all usb drivers then it automatic install usb drivers.
then check.
Also you need to change registry for that type in run "regedit" then press ok then you can see registry editor then locate below key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11 CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
And remove upper filter and lower filter. Then restart computer then check.
Try your harddrive in different computer if it is not recognized on another computer too then your harddrive has internal issue.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Aspire t180 monitor says rgb signal not found, figure it is the vidoe on the motherboard went, harddrive spins when it has power.

Try unplugging the power cable to the computer and pressing the power button. Then plug it back in and try to turn on your computer.

Screen does not turn on but green light is on.

Green light indicates the monitor is getting power. Nothing coming up on the screen indicates, No Signal.

No signal from the computer. This means the computer itself isn't working.

A bad power supply in the computer can cause this. A bad power supply is the leading cause of desktop computer failure. It is replaceable, and can be done by the owner relatively easy.

You may have a computer tower that the Power light comes on, you hear fan/s spinning, (Including the Power Supply fan), and it sounds like the harddrive is running.

ALL the lights in your computer use less than 1 Watt.
EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.
A harddrive sitting there spinning in an endless loop, consumes about 2 to 3 Watts.

A Processor uses 51 to 125 Watts. Depends on what Processor it is.

A weak Power Supply will have enough power for lights, fans, and that harddrive sitting there spinning.
It won't have enough power to turn on the Processor.

[No processor operating, then the harddrive sits there spinning in an endless loop, because there is no processor to find the boot sector]

For a test, connect your monitor to a know good computer. See if it works.
Now connect that other monitor to your computer.

Try reseating the RAM modules. If that doesn't work test the RAM in another laptop. If nothing works chances are you have a faulty motherboard.

HP Pavilion a1150y fans run when powered on but windows doesn't load, monitor, mouse and keyboard do not work. (Running Windows XP)

Believe it or not, it's due to a weak power supply. More specifically, weak voltage rail/s caused by failing Electrolytic Capacitors.

A bad computer power supply is about 70% of computer failure.

ALL the light use less than 1 Watt. EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.

A processor uses 55 to 125 Watts. Depends on the make and model.

Since the power supply is weak, it doesn't have enough power to turn the processor on.
No processor, nothing to find the Boot record on the harddrive. Nothing to get the Operating System going. (Example: Windows XP)

No computer running, there is no signal to the monitor.
Just enough power to light lights, and spin fans.

Hp computer. hard drive light is solid yellow pc non working

What has transpired is the power supply is bad. Electrolytic Capacitors inside have failed. These capacitors relate directly to the voltage power rails of the power supply. They are filters.

Little more detailed.
Your computer power supply converts AC electricity into DC electricity. (A flashlight battery is an example of stored DC electricity)
AC comes into input Electrolytic capacitors. Goes to a rectifier bridge, and on through various other components. Along the way, this DC voltage is considered 'Raw'. It needs to be a steady, 'clean', supply of DC voltage. There are Electrolytic capacitors used in the final stage, to convert the 'raw' DC to 'true' DC.

In a computer power supply the Electrolytic capacitors are the weakest link. They are usually the first component to go out.

You computer power supply converts AC voltage into three DC voltages. 3.3 volts, 5 volts, and 12 volts. These are the power rails.

When one, or more Electrolytic capacitors are weak, they make a weak voltage rail.
To simplify explaining the construction of an Electrolytic capacitor, let's just state they are small aluminum 'cans', and have a seal at one end, or both ends. Inside there is an Electrolytic paste.
This paste can break down, and when it does it forms a gas. (Hydrogen gas) This gas expands inside the 'can', pushes up on the seal/s, and makes Electrolytic paste ooze out.

So much paste loss, and the capacitor can operate in a weakened state. Too much paste loss, and the capacitor fails.

ALL the lights in your computer use less than 1 Watt. EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts. A harddrive just sitting there spinning, may use up to 5 Watts.

A processor uses 55 to 125 Watts! Depends on the make and model.
Since the power supply is to weak to provide enough power to turn the processor on, the harddrive isn't activated. It just sits there and spins. No Boot record on the harddrive is found, so no Operating System is going to be running. (WinXP is an example of an O/S)

This essentially means No computer! Harddrive activity light indicates yellow, then goes out. There is no harddrive activity.

No signal from the computer, because the computer isn't working.
Monitor stays in Standby, because there is no signal from the computer.
Power supply failure is 70% of computer issues.

Why?
Owner neglects to keep the inside of the computer, and the power supply clean. Doesn't use a can of compressed air for computers regularly.
Also there is another issue that the owner has nothing to do with.
Capacitor Plague.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

Solution? Replace the power supply.

I know the above info may seem like a 'Hard pill to swallow', but as stated. A weak power supply will still spin fans, and light lights.
Harddrive may spin, or spin up, then stop.

The processor isn't getting enough power.

Gateway FPD1760TFT LCD monitor

Problem
1. turn on computer
2. monitor receives signal, it looks like its working
3. it goes through some steps and then the monitor says "no signal" and kind of stays in limbo with fans running, etc.

Solution
One possibility is that computer is looking for drivers for you video card. It could be hung up looking in the wrong places. Remove all peripheral hard drives and memory sticks. Try again.
