Just bought a w2240 monitor. Where is the sound port? Can't find it. I am technologically challenged. On the back is a dvi-d place. Do I need to take this back and get a monitor with a sound port?

Not every monitor has speakers.
If you need speakers, get speakers. Also check to see if your monitor actually had them. If it does, it will have a jack in the back for the sound cable.

I can not get any sound from my monitor speakers since we received this monitor

Let find out first if it is the monitor rpoblem or the sound card problem. Feed the monitor with sound source such as MP3 player and see if you get the sound OK, if not then it may have bad sound IC which will not be worth fixing because the price of a good set of PC power speakers will cost you less than the repair job on this monitor, beside, you will get much better sound from the PC speakers anyway, something to think about.

Sound does not work. I have not been able to get the speakers to work, nor headphones when they are plugged into the monitor

We need to find first if the problem is in the monitor or in the sound card in the PC (hopefully you have the audio cable hooked up correctly, Green audio line out of PC goes to green audio line in of the monitor). Try feeding it with MP3 player or sound source to see if you get the sound or not and go from there, please post back. If it is bad amplifier in the monitor, you will be better off putting money toward Good powered speakers that will have 100% better sound than the tiny speakers inside the monitor that sound like tinned can.

Weak sound from speakers. Advueu A170E1-02 17 inch flat screen

I'd bet you need the monitor driver(s) installed. If you can't locate to install them, your only option for sound is external speakers plugged into the speaker port on the back of your pc (usually green color).

No sound from speakers

Ok newer monitors come with a HDMI connector and would need a compatable HDMI video card that has the ability for sound. The older monitors have a 3mm plug like a head phone jack you can plug this directly into the GREEN portion of the sound card that is installed in your system!

Can't get sound through speakers/headphones

You need to connect the speaker wire coming from the monitor to your PS3 if you want the sound to come out of the monitor speaker. Normally, you need an adapter for this.

I have acer al1917w A monitor but no sound

There is no sound driver, they are speakers, they work off of the audio output jack on the back of your PC, on the motherboard. If you have the sound drivers installed for the motherboard, and no sound, then you have plugged the monitor audio cable into the wrong jack on the PC, or you have the settings wrong just as MIKE said above.

Crnt get no sound x193w lcd

As far as I know the Acer x193w monitor does not have speakers. In order for you to have sound you must attach speakers to the sound card at the rear of the computer. Usually indicated by a light green colored port.

External speakers do not play

It is not an issue with the speakers or the sound card as you get sound in media player and also while playing cd's.
It could be the volume settings on the player tht the websites use to play the audio or the video,
