T40 TP will not boot in dock

I am having problems booting up the T40 while in the docking station. T40 will boot fine outside the dock.

Hi Sleeman777's, I encountered the same problem. The problem can be easily reproduced also if I undock my computer and connect it to the power source, trying then to boot-up. No chance...

I tried to update the boot system of my T40, change the battery type (double), and the only way to boot it up in this case is to remove the power, remove the battery and then... Re-insert the battery only (not the power), and making a "flying hot plug"! Great isn't it ? I am joking, but at the moment I do not find any other possiblities ? Good luck... Toshiba ? if you hear me, please help us ! Cu Stéph.

T40 and T42 will not boot on the dock. If I boot while off the dock, it boots fine and I can redock once it boots without a problem.

Sounds like your docking station may have some junk in the seating connector. Take a look, and perhaps you'll need to swab those connections with a tight, long style swab, with denatured alcohol.

Added a ST95005620AS in Lenovo (2503) docking station as a second drive and it is causing a slow boot in Lenovo T60

Very strange, I added a WD 500GB in place of my CD drive in my R60 and have had no issues. I suggest the following:

1. Pull the Seagate drive from the docking station, does the laptop boot faster (confirm the added drive is really the problem).

2. Put the drive caddy back in with a drive with one of another brand other than the Seagate, see if the performance imorives (confirm its the Seagate which is the problem and not the caddy or docking station).

If performance increases in both cases, do some research on compatibility issues between the IBM and Seagate drives. I would also go to Lenovo's website and update the laptop BIOS... this can easily be accomplished by downloading a tool and doing it through Windows. I had issues with using a non-Lenovo battery with my R60 till I updated the BIOS. Good luck, let me know if you get to the bottom of this. Please rate me if this helps you. Thanks.

Dell latitude D410 wont boot up when hooked to docking station can not use keyboard or mouse

Sounds like a compatibility issue between your Dell and the Docking station. I would say make sure the software for your docking station is installed properly, and update the software before connecting again.

Syncmaster 2333- connected fine to laptop on docking station for 3 months. Then all of a suddent it is causing my laptop to crash. laptop works on its own. Connected, the monitor shows my encryption...

Disconnect the monitor from the docking station and plug it directly in the laptop connector. If all is well it might be the docking station. I had one crash a computer and had to rebuild the operating system to make it work again.

When I install the driver and the computer restarts I get a blue screen that tells me a fatal error has occured and windows will not start normally. The only way to get past this screen is to restart in...

When you install the drivers, are you installing them while the laptop is conected to the docking station? If so, try installing with docking first. Then after installation, shut down your computer. Dock the comptuer, then start the computer back up. If you get a blue screen, go into your bios and make sure that your USB setting is set to High Speed.

Please make sure that the docking station is plugged into your notebook before booting up, there is an issue that all expresscard docks share with plugging the docking station in while the notebook is powered on.
If there is a switch located on the Expresscard
On-Pre-boot support
Off-Post-boot support (Default)
This switch is used to determine how the dock is recognized in the
system at boot up stage. Certain notebooks will detect the dock and not
work properly during a pre-boot mode (ie. trying to boot up on the
external VGA device, not the internal VGA of the Notebook). This was
observed in notebooks (Fujitsu, some Sony and Toshiba models) that
use a BIOS developed by Phoenix Technologies. If you experience
such issue, please turn the switch from the default "OFF" position to
"ON". You will only need to set it once.

No ethernet with docking station

It could be the connector on the bottom of your laptop that's creating the problem. Does any other ports work on the docking station when docked?
