I've been attempting to download photos on my camera to my laptop, but message repeatedly comes up saying camera connection cannot be made and to retry. I've attempted multiple reconnects, turning off and on the camera in different sequences - and, of course, screaming. I have successfully downloaded photos in the past, so can't figure this one out. I have a A620 Powershot.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.... Mary

I've had the FinePix A350 for years and recently I've tried downloading pictures onto my computer and I keep getting "communication error."  I used to have a desktop PC initially when the camera was first purchased, and normally I could upload pics to it without a problem.  Since that computer I had another desktop PC, which worked 50% of the time, sometimes I would get "Communication Error" other times it would magically work.  Now I have a MAC laptop and it NEVER works.  I have tons of pictures on my camera and no way of uploading them to my computer.  HELP i'm frustrated and I can't find anyone who seems to know what to do.

    Thanks,
    Sara

I have the Fuji Finepix Z20fd Digital Camera and it did not come with a USB cable so I had to take it upon myself to buy one. I have tried connecting it to the computer but it just comes up with 'communication error'. How can I fix this?

    Thanks.

I had this problem for couple of days, until i started googling this problem. I started to reread this instruction manual. If you have a communication error on the camera screen. Make sure the the USB port you are using, is a working unit. If it is, more than likely the port is not inserted correctly. Keep fiddling around with it until the message goes away. I would also turn the camera on and off to double check and make sure.

Hi all,  The only solution I have found is to buy the device where you can plug in your memory card and have the computer transferred that way.  Scrap the connection USB cable and go out and buy a San Disk memory card reader that connects the memory card for direct transfer to your computer.  I was able to get all my pics off my camera and onto my computer that way.  I've also heard MAC computers don't collaborate well with this camera either, but i'm not sure if you all operate via a MAC (I do, but it also was showing "communication error" on my old HP).   Hope this helps!

Cannot download pics from GE X5 camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

"No camera is connected" -- USB connection

The "No camera is connected" error message indicates a communications problem in the USB connection between the camera and the computer. Simply put, the computer cannot find the camera it is being asked to connect with. There is usually no single "most likely" reason for the conflict -- it could be a hardware issue as easily as it could be a software issue.
