Howdy,

It sounds like the Lite Engine/Optical Block is bad. Sony has recall on most Models and will replace this part at little or no cost to you. So, call Sony at 1-239-768-7547. Hours: Mon-Fri 9:00AM-10:00PM / Sat-Sun 10:30AM-7:15PM EST.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Little white and gray dots started appearing on the screen it looks like star constellations??

If the dots are twinkling then you have bad pixels, if they don't twinkle I'd say there is dust built up in the optics and needs to be cleaned, which to do properly the top needs to be removed to allow access to the optical engine to do this. I recommend keeping the unit in a plastic bag when not in use to prevent dust build up.

I have blue dots all over my screen aa well as

Hi,
This blue dot and hue problem is due to bad lcd in your tv as its Sony dlp tv that has optics block, that is also called light engine, it consists of 3 lcds, filters and lamp to produce an image that projects on front screen.
In this tv, blue lcd became defective and complete light engine will be replaced to get it fixed.
As other expert talking about blue CRT (cathode ray tube) that does not exist in this tv and my fellow expert has no idea about this kind of tv, sorry for that.
Hope this info will help you, let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

We have a Sony WEGA 52 inch. Its around 5 years

Depending on the model number even if the set is now out of warranty--you may have some recourse with Sony. It sounds like you have a LCD rear projection---the pattern in the middle of the screen and a blue discoloration suggest a BAD OPTICAL LIGHT ENGINE! It is a very expensive part and labor intensive to replace--Contact Sony with your model number---they were offering free replacement including labor on a lot of these sets well past the warranty period.

I am from your description almost certain it is a bad optical engine.

I know I am not giving you good news but this is common on these sets--the engine has a series of lens and the heat from the lamp causes them to be damaged inside.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you at all take a minute and give me a vote here.

This model also has a paper filter for the Optic block that should be changed. No one ever said anything about it. shortens the life of the optic block if not changed.

3LCD Projection TV 2.5 years old displaying blue hue/blobs

I would first try a new lamp. If the reflector portion of the lamp has any defects, it could show up this way as the light would not be uniform. The next possibility is a defective light engine. The engine portion if not field repairable and would need to be replaced. Try the lamp first and let us know what happens.

Blue shadows appear to be behind white objects

TV shows large red spot in middle of tv when dark show are on, you can see it more.  Now blue spots on upper right side too.  Spend way to much on this tv to have these kinds of problems only after 3 yrs.

Blue hue on screen

Probably the optics block. It needs to be replaced.

However, it looks like you're in luck. Sony will reimburse you.

Kf-42610 blue hue and blue dots on screen

Hi Guys

The Blue dots or discolouration you are seeing is due too the Blue LCD screen having cracked from excessive heat. This normally happens when you have a power failure while the Television was on. This obviously because the Blue LCD sits next to the lamp - the main cause of heat. The correct part number on the 60" is A-1086-952-A. It is very, very ,expensive.

Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news. Good luck : )
