Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

Dust particle inside lens

I've had my camera for about 7 months now and I absolutely love it. Recently I noticed that there was a darkened spot in the display which I figured must be in the lens because when I zoom in, the spot gets darker. I cleaned the outer part of the lens with a soft lens cloth, but that didn't help so I know definitely the problem lies inside the lens. Can you help me please? Thanks LK.

Re: Dust particle inside lens

If its dirt, then it would be better to gave it serviced by an authorized sevicer. check also if the spot blinks and if it is..............its a dead pixel.(dead pixel os not a malfunction)
its normal with all lcd screens. you may set up repair file for yet camera on or call 1800-222-7669.

A small brown spot is on all of the pictures I've taken starting today. Looked back at pictures from last week and didn't see it. Same place all pictures, both lens.

Hiit is simple dust particles. I can let you know by very simple tip. But unfortunately I can not describe in word everything. First thing you can try is that you can you ear know remover or squeeze blower. Set the camera at ccd cleaning mode.(not auto mode) See front inside of mirror box when mirror goes up, you can recognize the brown spot. Blow with the blower. Other method is I can not expain everything.

I have dropped camera once, since after while clicking pictures at night in absolute dark, several round white small circles or spots are appearing on the image. But in full light area and in daylight...

Are these flash pictures? Are the spots in different places on each picture? If the answer to both questions is yes, the spots are dust particles in the air reflecting the flash back into the lens.

Hello Sir or Madam, My wife has recently taken pictures and most of her pictures have white spots in them, does this mean that my digital camera is defective?

Do the spots only occur when taking flash pictures and do the spots look like "soap bubbles" and appear in different places in each picture? If so, these are dust particles reflecting the flash back into the lens. It's a problem with all point and shoot cameras because the flash is so close to the lens.

How do I clean dust inside the camera? I noticed some splotches on my photos, then looked closely at the lens and it appears there is dust on the inside of the lens.

You can't clean inside the camera. Dust inside the lens would be so out of focus, it wouldn't register on your pics unless the particle was huge. Do these splotches only happen in your flash pictures?

Spots and smudges

The spots are dust particles in the air reflecting the flash back to the camera because the flash is so close to the lens. This is a problem with all point and shoot cameras...some more than others.

White cloudy spots on my images - a recent problem

If these are like "bubble" spots and they appear in different places on each photo, I'm guessing you're shooting flash pictures indoors. The spots are dust particles in the air reflecting the flash. This happens on small point-and -shoots because the flash is almost in the same plane as the lens.

If the dark spot is not focused, it could be on the sensor. Otherwise, check the lens for any dust particles. If you can't find any dust, take the camera to an authorized service center.

Help, White spots on photos with W1

Could be dust reflecting the flash. Water droplets also do it. Here's an example from an indoor trials where they had little RC cars on a dirt track next to the trials. The RC cars kicked up dust. The flash just bounced off the particles. This is an 828 with a Metz flash with a pocket bounce/diffuser on top. With the smaller camera with the flash more on axis of the lens the effect will be more pronounced since closer dust particles will be illuminated.

Dust Behind Lens on F707

That's odd. I had the 707 (may she rest in God's eternal peace), and never thought that dust could get behind the lens. Do you see the dust when you look through the EVF, or when you look at the lens itself? Either way, one way to test it is to set the camera to the smallest aperture (f/8), infinity focus, and shoot a clear blue sky. Open the picture in your editor program, and see if the dust shows up. That's a technique to use with an SLR to see if the dust inside would affect a picture, so I'm not sure if this will work with the 707.
