Question about Business & Productivity Software

Microsoft office 2000 word

My upper toolbar is not anymore active to open and save files and to carry other word tasks. Please advise on how I could make it reappear. I have reloaded the software and the same thing results when I open word. The other softwares from Office 2000 such as Excel, Photodraw .. all exhibit the toolbars.
Best regards,
Maurice Garzon

Re: microsoft office 2000 word

Office 2000 has some set of unique problems that Microsoft has never addressed. This sounds like one of them. Here is what I would do.....uninstall office....and then (after saving my files) using Windows explorer...delete the residue left behind. You will find that under program files if you put office in its normal location. You can retry installing again at this point...but if you are familar with regedit (and have a back up of your registry / a good restore point) then I personally would use it to remove all references to OFFICE. That will work (have been there done it before when I had "strange" problems.)....If that does not may have a corrupted file on the installation disk. Oh, also, do a defrag (thorough) before may have a bad cluster...(the one that clobbered the file)...

Is it possible to make word repair document?

When you restart a Microsoft Office program after a power failure or similar problem, the program automatically opens any recovered files.
If for some reason the recovery file didn't open, you can open it yourself.

1. On the Standard toolbar, click Open .
2. On the Show pop-up menu, click All Documents.
3. Locate the folder that contains your recovery files.
Each recovery file is named "AutoRecover save of file name."
4. Open the recovery file.
5. Click Save .
6. In the Save As box, enter the name of the existing document.
7. When you see a message asking whether you want to replace the existing document, click Yes.

Any recovery files that haven't been saved are deleted when you quit WorTips

• If you can't open the recovery file, you can try to recover the text from the damaged file.
• To find out or change where your recovery files are stored, click Preferences on the Word menu, and then click File Locations.

Otherwise apply Word Repair Toolbox

If you installed Office 2007, it configures itself as the program to be used to "open" any 'DOC' files.

If Word 2000 is still installed, start it.
Then, use 'File' and 'Open' to select & read your file from your USB flash-drive.

Can't activate microsoft office home & student 2007

Once Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed with no product key, proceed with the following steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en\
2. Right click on Proof.XML file, select “Open With…” in the right click menu.
3. In the “Open With” window, select Notepad to be used to open the XML file. In Vista, if you can’t see the Notepad option, simply double click the “Other Programs” to unhide it.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the Proof.XML to locate the following lines:
</Feature> <Feature Id=”SetupXmlFiles” Cost=”1248′>
<OptionRef Id=”AlwaysInstalled”/>
5. Change the AlwaysInsalled to neverInstalled so that the line looks like following:
<OptionRef Id=”neverInstalled”/>
6. Save the Proof.xml file. In Windows Vista, you may need to take ownership and grant full access permission to yourself before able to modify the file.
7. You can now launch Microsoft Office 2007 application such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and etc without prompting for activation.
