Thanks for the info, however, the only video option I have is labeled "PICTURE" under "picture" the sub-options are Picture Norm, Color, Tint, Brightness, Picture, and Sharpenss. The problem I'm having is that I get a 1 inch border on the left and right side of the screen, other then that the pic is excellant. Any ideas how to get rid of the border.

    Thanks Dave

It would be helpful to post brand and model of equipment.

Possibly the aspect ration has been changed. Some remotes have buttons which alter this (sometimes a format button, sometimes a p button.)

Why do i have a large line at the top and bottom of the tv

This is caused by aspect ratio. To change you have to go into set up and alter the ratio shown as 9:16 , not sure what ratio you will have . Note som tv's have an auto chaning aspect ration for films ect.

Daewoo DTQ-19TV1fc aspect ratio changed to letterbox. How do I restore it to full screen?

get the on screen menu on the screen
scroll around till you see aspect ratio and click on that use the buttons to change ( you will see the changes on the screen)
click ok and exit when satisfied
Fir aspect ration to change there can be a few reasons
some tv stations produce movies in the wrong ratio and it shows up for the movie as black edges or tall figures or fat figures ( change channel to verify)
or there can be a fault occurring in the board of the set that will not hold preset aspect ratios

Change the aspect ratio on the remote. If this does not fix, change the aspect ratio on your cable or sat box.

HD programs work fine, however, the standard pictures are distorted. I had this once before and someone fixed it but not sure how.

You probably need to to turn your aspect ration on the TV down. Newer HD screens use a 16:9 aspect ratio for HD content which is a wide screen format. Standard definition TVs and programs use a 4:3 aspect ratio. Most flat screen TVs have an option to display in 4:3. This option is most often found in Menu/Setting>Video Options>Aspect Ratio. For standard definition programming you want 4:3, for HD you want 16:9.

People look short and fat

You are trying to display standard definition TV 4:3 ASPECT RATIO to fill up the 16:9 screen and that is what you will get. You need to use the 'APSECT', 'P.MODE', or 'WIDE' button to set correct aspect ration to match the video source aspect ratio. Please see you owner manual for more details.

How can I get full screen image without distortion on tv viewing? I only get 4:3, zoom, full and justified. Full looks stretched horizontally with tv, looks ok with dvd.

Most of the telivision transmissions are comes at an aspect ratio of 4:3. Wide aspect ratio is 16:9. If you try to see a picture with aspect ratio 4:3 to wide 16:9, it will look like stretched. it is not the fault of the tv. Most DVD recording have the aspect ratio of 16:9 [Wide]. This aspect ratio will be displayed correctly when your tv is also set to wide mode. If you select normal mode at this condition, the picture will be displayed elongated. Ok Your Tv has no probelm.

Picture is to tall. it cuts off the top of the heads

It sounds like you have the image on the perspective. If you tv is 4:3 aspect ration the video source (cable box, dvd ) must be set for a 4:3. If you have a 16:9 ratio (widescreen) the soutrce should be set to 16:9..................Nevermind, Just looked it up you this TV is 4:3.

Your TV remote will have a button to toggle/change the aspect ratios of the TV. Button could be called picture/aspect/image etc. If you have an HD cable box you need to go into the video setting and chnage the aspect ratio to match the 4:3 tv.

If you need more help, please respond with more deatils.

Aspect Ratio not responding/always in "Full" mode

Normally, when I see this problem in the customer's home, I find the main culprit to be the cable box. The remote for the cable box may have a button on it to change the format or picture size. You may have to go into the menu of the cable box to change the format setting. Hope this helps.
