Preamp intermittent channel

Getting the connections right is a problem. One thing I find helps is the THX DVD discs that certain movies have on them. They have a sound set up to get it right. It makes a tone for each channel so you can hear which channel is working. It should help you set up the system right and determine if any channel has a fault on it.

Can you bridge channel b on the isignia r2001 receiver

No. It has only two amplifier channels and the speaker A and B terminals just share physical access to them for two pairs of speakers. It's not four amps.

Adcom GFA-5002 is dead no lights, no anything

Check the Fuse. Unplug the AC first. If you replace the fuse and it blows again, disconnect all speakers, replace the fuse and turn on. If the fuse does not blow, chances are it is a speaker problem, Adcom builds some very solid product, I would suggest pulling the outdoor speakers and testing them.
Depending on what you are using, some outdoor speakers should never be taken out of the living room. If you still have an issue post a comment and I will help some more.

My insignia amp wont work

Try removing the capacitor and discharging it with a .5 watt (radio shack) light bulb, and then reconnecting it in the same fashion.(before hooking it back up to the amp place it in line with the capacitor until the cap reads 12v with a multimeter or capacitor display) The capacitor will conduct but not store a charge for the amp if not properly charged before making the amp/capacitor conection. and therefore shut down or not start at all.

Convert passive speaker to active

You don't say anything about your passive speaker, only thing that I understand you have a Yamaha AX-396 witch have an Power output of 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms (stereo)! That means working great with your passive speaker!!!

Right channel won't play on stereo amplifier

In old stereos the first things I look at are output transistors, solder joints and electrolytic capacitors. If you know how to solder, bad solder joints are pretty obvious. If you need a tutorial on how to spot bad solder joints, look here.

As for bad caps, look here. The info is aimed at computer motherboards but still helpful.

Hooking up a Klipsch

Need to confirm that you have a subwoofer cable which is a coax cable. I have seen this sort of issue when using a standard RCA cable. If you need a cable you can order it at

Carver Sound Problems

your going to need this place to download the remedy's for your system

if it is not working then there is another serious problem , and it could be the amp IC or the volume IC but tests will need to be done to determine what is causing the failure , but it does sound like amp IC as a suspect since the rear were not even working , did the volume seem different when turning it up or down before the center quit or after the center quit?
