Cleaning base Contact post will not stay connected to shaver. Therefore I cannot clean or charge shaver automatically.

The base can be repaired. Alternatively, a cheap way to fix this is to use tape to make it stay in place. You can also charge the razor by plugging the cord directly.

The problem is the base, not the shaver. Most likely, the circuit board inside the base has gotten wet and is damaged. If this is the case, it will need to be replaced. You will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Clean and Renew stand for braun 8595 does not seem to cycle properly...after shaving and placing in unit, it randomly seems to clean and is stuck on cleaning cycle (normal light blinking, no charge) I then...

The circuit board on the shaver may have become faulty. One thing you can try is to fully charge the shaver first, directly connected to the outlet, and then try using the cleaning base. Also, be sure that the fluid level is sufficient. Lastly, you may be able to buy a used but working condition cleaning station off of eBay. New replacements are a bit costly.

Unable to charge the shaver. The charging unit is plugged in, but it doesn't seem to be able to charge the shaver.

The cleaning base is the problem. It probably got wet inside and the circuitry is damaged. This is almost always why these go bad. You dont have to replace it to use your shaver as you now know that you can charge the shaver directly from the cord.
If you want the convenience of the cleaning station, you will need to replace it. You can find a new one at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Shaver will not charge or clean in the base

All you have to do is take the base apart. Turn it upside down, and there are two plastic clips on the rear portion of the base. Press them in with a key or screwdriver and wiggle the base a bit to remove the inner portion from the outer shell. Make sure you unplug the unit and remove the cleaning cartridge before doing this. Once it is apart, place a small wedge underneath the portion of the electric contact that sticks out to touch the shaver, and press the back of that portion out so that it slightly bends the contact strip and makes it stick out a little further. Then remove the wedge and put the base back together. It will work again, as the contacts can now protrude to touch the shaver and run the cleaning and charging cycle.

Cleaning base

I have been shaving with electric razors for 48 years, and the Braun 8595 is by far the best one yet.
I have had the problem of the refusal of the cleaning station to recognize the level of fluid in the cartridge, three times over the last couple of years. It seems to relate to a build up of shavings in the unit. To get it working again I inverted the unit, and carefully flushed water via a small tube, back through the 1cm diameter hole in the underside of the open base. Of course, the unit must then be thoroughly dried before use, or the sparks may fly. Does anyone know how to dismantle the unit for a safer and more thorough clean?

Self-fixing base unit

if you take the cover off (do it carefully or you will break he plastic for the indicator lights, like i did) there is a white piece of plastic that holds the wand. just snap that piece back in place and it should now stay down again.
