Casio ce 3700 is stuck on error E-04 . how can i clear the error

E-04 Key in mode switch was turned before completing last opereration. Turning key to X then pressing subtotal usually fixes problem.

Hi. It means the password has not been entered. I suspect this machine has not been RAM cleared properly after the battery was changed. What MAC code did you enter when you changed the battery and initialised it?

Firstly, try a flag clear. This will not lose any of your data:
Turn key to PROGRAM mode. Turn power off at wall. Hold RECEIPT FEED down - keep your finger on it. Turn power on at wall. Wait 5 seconds, then let go of RECEIPT FEED. You should see "FFFFFFFFFF" on display. Press SUBTOTAL.
Turn key back to REG mode and try it

The machine is trying to complete an initialisation. It has probably not had its battery changed on time, or it may have been left off for too long. You need to check the internal rechargeable battery and replace if necessary. You can re-program it once the battery has been checked/ replaced.
