COMPAQ EVO n600c DIsplay back light out

My daughter dropped her laptop and when she booted up the screen was dark. You can barely see the images. I hooked it up to an external monitor and all the functions are normal with the exception of the LCD's back light. Any help would be appreciated.

I am positive the back light bulb broke. We have another old EVO n600 with the same screen. I will remove the broken one and repalce it with the working one. That laptop has a MB problem.

The screen bezel seems very determined to stay in place. I have removed all of the screws I can find but it still wants to stick

I dropped my ASUS Q200E. The screen does not display images. When I hook to an external monitor the image is displayed on the monitor. I can even get a touch screen response showing on the monitor when I touch the notebook screen. How can I get my image back on the notebook screen display?

Your liquid display has been probably damaged because of dropping it down, laptop LCD screen is one of the most delicate part of a laptop, it needs a tender loving care from the user when we just only cleaning it surface with a provided cleaning solution for it.

You said that it was dropped its much probably that your laptop LCD screen broke. I had the same experience like you when my sister pulled the strap of my bag were my laptop was there i place on top of my cabinet so that she cannot used it when I'm away. But she sees and because she wanted to play games she pulled the bag down and my laptop bangs on the floor.. And it was broke.

For you u can still bring it to the service center to replace your LCD or for some availabity of stocks you can order it directly from the Main service center probably US.

When i hear that story from you the memories of like what also happen to me came back.. tsk..tsk... So when it happens I learn and give me a lesson that my laptop is much safer when i putting it and do my work with my laptiop on the floor. And hide and keep it under the bed with pillows on guard.

tnx

There must be a spring attached to the panel mount it possibly attached to clip on lock type, carefully find somewhere that clip which make the screen still fits to the housing.

By the way whats the problem of the another laptop that you have an MB problem??

Compaq Evo N600c Laptop over 5 years old but has been working fine. About 2 months ago the screen went dark (bad lamp?) so been using an external monitor. Turned it on this morning and it started to boot...

Do you see any lights on the laptop that are on? If you see any lights and only a black screen, then more than likely your video chip on the motherboard has gone out. Some local shops might be able to replace the motherboard it might be cheaper than buying a new laptop. Good luck

Adjust screen brightness evo N600c

using the blue Fn key(usually on bottom left to side of space bar)..look at Funtion keys on top, under the screen. One of them(F5 or F8) will have a blue sun image or a monitor image to increase or decrease the brightness. press the Fn key first, then the one that increases brightness until it's good .

Evo N600C, display is 'dim' and mainly 'red'

There is one CCFL lamp on the bottom edge of the LCD screen.
You may have a faulty inverter or loose power inverter connection. OR
You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

All white screen on compaq n600c

When you hooked up external monitor, did you switch to it via "Fn" keys?
If it did not help, then it's GPU ot North Bridge on the board that needs service.
