Re: Port Forwarding

Hello Just wondering If both are on the same work Group in the network settings. (Same Name) You probably did that already but if not give it a try and maybe your forwarding will resume and work properly. Hope so. Thanks

If you are trying to access the DVR server from outside your network, you need to use port forward, in that way you will use your DVR client to connect to the router's public IP, the router will be forwarding the port the video system use to the computer, just configure the computer's IP in the router's port forwarding configuration.

How do I configure my router for port forwarding

Once you open the set up interface of the router, you will be able to find the settings on the router where you can open the ports for the particular program.
If you are opening the ports for a special device in your network, then you must know the IP address of that device.
For example, wireless camera, DVR, X-box, Play station ...
You can choose the option PORT FORWARDING for a special device application.
If you just want to open the ports for all the network, then you can choose PORT TRIGGERING

For Linksys Router.

You have opened the set up interface of the router. You will see Application and Gaming TAB at the top.
If you click on that tab you will find different Sub tabs.
Click on Port Triggering => Here you can open the port numbers for the network.
Click On Port forwarding if you want to open the ports for a special device in the network.
Click Save settings once you open the ports on the router.

For D-link router

You have opened the set up interface of the router.
You will see Network settings in the left hand side panel of the page.
Click on Network settings and go to the Advanced TAB at the top.
Now you will find the option. Pot Forwarding in the left hand panel.
Here you can open the ports on the router.

BELKIN wireless router

Select TCP, UDP, or BOTH for the Type.Private IP address: Enter the IP address of the computer you want grant access too. Type the port(s) specified by the program manufacture for both of the Private port fields.Click the Apply Changes button.

You have opened the set up interface of the router.
Click on Port Triggering under Advanced menu.
Change the value of Port Triggering Timeout as 20 Click on Add Service. Specify a Unique/User Defined name under Service Name. Ex: Mails, VPN. Specify the Service User as Any (if all the computers in the network are port triggered or if a single computer on a network is port triggered specify the IP address of the computer). Select the Service Type of the port to be triggered
Ex: TCP . Specify the Trigger Port (The port to be triggered). Select the Connection Type of Inbound Connection. Specify the Starting and Ending Port for Inbound Connection. Click Apply to accept changes. Your router is now set up for port triggering..

How do I do port forwarding with one static IP to put my address in my other computers . I need to shadow into with VNC after I install address on my computer is port forwarding marked on the menus are...

Find the IP-address of the computer that you want to accept VNC connections.

Access the router's web-interface.
Find its web-page for "port-forwarding".
Define 'TCP' port '5900' to be forwarded to the IP-address that you found.
Save the settings, and restart your router.

Hopefully, Verizon's FIOS network does not "block" all 'TCP:5900' traffic.

Port fowarding and remote desktop

Port forwarding is not the only thing that you have to enable to access your home network. Firstly do you just want to access your router from the outside? If that is the case enable remote login via the administration tab.
If you want to login to your computer from the outside then you must first enable remote desktop and enable port forwarding on your router.

You enable port forwarding for port 3389 which is the remote desktop port. So start port is 3389 and end port is 3389 after that set a static IP on your computer that you want to access.
You can enable remote desktop by following the directions below at the link '

After doing this. What you do is go to the status tab of your router. Look at the IP there.

On the remote computer lauch remote desktop and enter that IP then click connect. IT will then ask you for the username and password of the computer behind the router that you want to login to. After that you should be able to get in.

If you need any clarifications regarding this you may message me and id be glad to help.

Parker Vision Router WR1500

You need to forward the remote desktop port to your server. The Remote Desktop port is 3389. Go to the port forwarding section of your router and find out your Server's network IP address and assign it to forward the Remote Desktop port of "3389". Save your changes and try connecting again.

Port Forwarding

Port forwarding is a method that allows you to run a server behind the router. Port Forwarding opens a specific port to a computer behind the router, allowing all Incoming Traffic on that port to be sent directly to that server. It should be used to setup servers behind the router, typically Port Triggering (Answer ID 344) is a better choice for non server applications (Such as instant messengers and game servers). Below is an example of how to setup Port Forwarding. For our example we will be setting an FTP Server and a Mail Server that uses SMTP and POP3. FTP uses ports: 20 and 21 SMTP uses port: 25 POP3 uses port: 110 Getting Started 1. You must set a static IP address on the server. If you're unsure of how to do this please go to Answer ID 534 for information on setting a static IP address in Windows. 2. Once the static IP address has been assigned please go to your desktop and double click on Internet Explorer (Located on the Start Menu in Windows XP) 3. Once "Internet Explorer" opens, please type the "Address Bar" and click GO 4. The "Enter Network Password" window will appear. Skip user name and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password, and click OK 5. This will bring up the routers "Setup" section. Look under "Domain Name" and check what version of the firmware you're using. 6. You will need to click on the Advanced tab to the very right. Once the "Advanced" tab comes up please go to the Forwarding tab. Firmware prior to 1.32 This will not work with firmware prior to 1.32
