Question about Pioneer PD-F505 CD Player

1 Answer

CD won't deliver into player, from rack.

White plastic retreival arm is off, but it doesn't look broken and I can't figure out how or where it goes back on. Any pics?

Re: CD won't deliver into player, from rack.

They tend to break... and the cure is to replace the arm. This involves removing the transport and then splitting it, replacing the load lever, and then refitting transport. Be careful not to break the transport limit switch mounted to the chassis when removing and refitting the transport. Not an easy job for the "non handyman". Take it to a Pioneer agent if you don't feel confident. Good luck. "FixYa" rating would help my profile. Thanks

Sony CDP -CX200 Arm comes forward to pick up cd but goes back empty. It will not load the disc to play.

Is the second part of the arm clamping the cd? If not then the arm is probably broken and needs to be replaced.

The loading bay is probably jammed up tight, sometimes caused by disc lodged against another, broken gears, or ware. The unit will need to be dismantled in a attempt to repair or retreive the cd's.

Check all connections, such as from player to amplifier or receiver and receiver to speaker. Check and clean contacts on RCA jacks and cables and try a different input on the amplifier or receiver.

Clean the lens. Use only a special CD lens cleaner and follow the instructions carefully.

Check the traverse assembly (the metal rod that the laser travels along and the gear that drives it) if CDs aren't recognized or won't play, frequent skipping occurs at random, CDs randomly get stuck in one spot, the player can't find tracks correctly, or cleaning the lens doesn't work. Dust and lint may be interrupting its function.

Have the laser-head assembly checked by a repair person if the traverse assembly seems intact and free of debris.Look for broken plastic parts, such as gears and clips, look for loose or broken internal connections.possibly have gears and belts replaced.

is it where the lens is? that's the optical pickup. you can get a replacement through mcm electronics.
if the web site doesn't have it on there, you can call technical assistance and give them the model number and they can cross reference parts.

Wurlitzer arm keeps running

check the white plastic actuator next to the gear box, it is probably broken and not actuating the microswitch underneath it, these often fail, it may look ok,, but it actually is loose and the set screw on top of it is not clamping it to the rod.

Cd not playing

If you look at the far side of the gripper arm towards the back of the machine, at the base, you will see a white bracket like a duck's bill. This has come loose or broken. You can prove this is the problem by pressing down on it and clicking the microswitch as the gripper reaches back over the carousel.

Ouch, you should not have disconnected the front door.
Take the lid off.
take all CD's out.
Figure out where the plastic bit goes.
Good luck.

1015 Display Flashing #8!

Sounds like you may have a "timing" problem with the changer mechinism. Could be a worn gear or some broken teeth on some gear or some slack in the mesh between gears and it jumped a few teeth. That would explain the doubling up and out of sequence problem with the rack and it might be the problem with it not playing too.

Number 8 flashes on display screen and disk changer is stuck

The #8 indicates either the settings for the amplifier is too high so tryi turning down both channels and/or the fuse Si3 on the amplifier panel inside the wurlitzer is blown
