How to install an wirless adapter to mi desktop

Install a wireless network adapterIn areas that are served by a wireless network, you can connect to a computer network without using a cable, and surf the Internet or connect with other computers. To connect to a wireless network, your computer needs a wireless network adapter.
Many new computers-especially laptops-come with wireless adapters. Before using your computer, check to see if it already has a wireless network adapter.
If your computer doesn't have a wireless network adapter, you can install one.
Install a wireless USB network adapter. Most people prefer this type of adapter for any type of computer, because it's easy to install.
Install a wireless CardBus or CF network adapter. For portable computers, this type of adapter (also called a PCMCIA or PC Card) is easier to travel with than a USB adapter, because it is often smaller and fits securely in the PC Card slot on the side of the computer.
Install a wireless internal network adapter. If you have a desktop computer, you may prefer an internal adapter so that you can use the USB port to connect another accessory.
The type of adapter you install depends on your computer and your level of expertise.
How to determine if you already have a wireless network adapterMany portable computers manufactured after 2000 have wireless networking built in. However, because the antenna is hidden inside the computer, it's not easy to see.
To see which network adapters are currently installed in your computer

I have my wireless adapter connected and it shows my required network in the list, but I am not able to connect to it

I had trouble with linksys router and modem, it saw connection but would not connect. I found that my network adapter (drivers) were not installed. Make sure you check that the drivers are installed. If it looks like it, then uninstall then re-install again.

Hope it helps.

How do you install wireless usb adaptor

A wireless USB adapter is a simple device that connects to an open USB port on your computer or laptop, allowing you to connect wirelessly to a network that is within range. They come with different connection speeds, ranges and security protection allowing you to connect to the Internet and use email servers, without complicated setups. Installing USB adapters to a computer is a simple task that anyone can perform. With just a few steps, you can access wireless networkmag-glass_10x10.gif where there is one.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions
  1. Step 1 Research around before purchasing a wireless USB adapter. There are many different networking companies such as Belkin, Netgear and Linksys (see links in Resources). Compare prices and features such as speed in megabytes per second (mbps). Look for wireless USB adapters with a compliance of IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11g. These options give you increased security on your network.
  2. Step 2 Plug your purchased USB into a USB port on your computer. Depending on the chosen model, you may have an installation CD. Place your installation CD into the CD-ROM on your computer, and follow the setup instructions to install the wireless USB drivers. Some adapters will install automatically.
  3. Step 3 Locate the wireless icon on the lower right of your computer screen. If there is an "X" marked on it, use the manual that comes with your purchased wireless USB adapter to configure it properly. The wireless icon usually lights up when a wireless connection point is detected.

Connect to wireless

I believe the X-Box does NOT have Wifi built in? (sic)Surprisingly, the Xbox 360 doesn't have wireless networking built in. If you don?t fancy using the wired Ethernet method, you can invest in a wireless networking adapter. Microsoft has its own adapter specifically designed for the Xbox 360, but third-party Wifi-certified devices will work just as well.(sic) From the below site. http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:d7LlkY7Zo1sJ:www.vnunet.com/personal-computer-world/hardware/2147007/microsoft-xbox-360+xbox+360+wifi+is+built+in%3F&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2 So that may be ya problem?
