Re: DP-303

Perhaps the XP firewall software is preventing PS Admin from connecting to the print server?

Re: DP-303

I too have the same problem. I even tried ARP to ARP to setup the IP address.

My PC (and the network) IP address range is with subnet
My Print server MAC address is : 00-05-5d-5a-04-54

I want to assign the printer server IP address and I tried the following DOS command from my XP

ARP -s 00-05-5d-5a-04-54

The command works successful, but I can not ping from my PC to Print Server.

I assume that I need to assign the subnet also? If it is then how can I assign a subnet using ARP command?

Hi - in my three-computer, PC network environment, I just changed from a static IP to a dynamic IP situation, and can't use some of the printers. I think it's because my DP 300U print server is stuck on...

Shut down all the printers and computers.
Boot all the printers first to establishe their IP addresses.
Then turn on a computer and search the network group for what is online. All the printers should show as long as they have theit IP address.
Once their static IP is established the rest shall follow with what ever IP addresses are left. A dynamic IP setup grabs the available ip address and can conflict with a device that has that static IP if the static IP device is powered up after.

DP 300U

DP 300U's can get be pretty uncooperative when attached to a different router. One solution is to reset the DP 300U to its factory settings. Use the PS Admin software to do this. (If you lost the PS Admin software, you should be able to download it from the internet.) If the software prompts you for a password and you do not know it, try "SYSXXXX", where XXXX is the last four digits of the MAC address located on the underside of the print server.
After you reset the DP 300U you will need to set it up from scratch, a process which is not particularly intuitive. Refer to your "Quick Install Guide" (download it from D-link's web site if you don't have it anymore).

Forgotted the Ip of D-Link DP 300U print server

You may use the PSAdmin software to configure your print server even if you don't know the IP address. The only requirement is that the DP-300U has to be in the same network (subnet) as your PC running PSAdmin. In the PSAdmin, you will then be able to view or change the IP address.

Here is the link to download PSAdmin:

Remember that if you also have forgotten the Admin password, you will have to ship the unit to D-Link in order to have it factory reset.

Where did my printserver go !!! ???

From your initial troubleshooting steps, it sounds like you are having an IP connectivity issue. I will make the assumption that your print server is configured with DHCP and not a static IP address (If it is has a static IP address, make sure it is configured for the correct subnet). If this is the case, you should be able to log on to your broad band router and see what IP address was given out for it in the DHCP Lease section. Next, try pinging (open a command prompt and type: ping the IP address of the print server. This will confirm that you have proper connectivity to it. Next, make sure you have file and print sharing enabled on your Win XP machine.
