Perhaps the XP firewall software is preventing PS Admin from connecting to the print server?

I too have the same problem. I even tried ARP to ARP to setup the IP address.

My PC (and the network) IP address range is 192.100.100.25 with subnet 255.255.255.0
My Print server MAC address is : 00-05-5d-5a-04-54

I want to assign the printer server IP address 192.100.100.50 and I tried the following DOS command from my XP

ARP -s 192.100.100.50 00-05-5d-5a-04-54

The command works successful, but I can not ping from my PC to Print Server.

I assume that I need to assign the subnet also? If it is then how can I assign a subnet using ARP command?

Hello I am trying to find a Canon iP 1000 driver but can't seem to find it online. Also, if and when I get it... will it run on Windows 7 OS?

There Is NO driver for Win 7. It is just that simple. No driver has been nor I suspect ever will be written for Win 7.

The best shot is to try installing, a Win XP driver, and installing and then running as Admin, & set "Compatibility Mode for XP SP2" this may work, and enable basic functions?

Will not run xp pro i'm stuck in 2000 mode mother board is ak77 pro 133 vt8233 will not run xp pro i've been told im pretty much sol. Is this true?

If you have a valid Win XP Pro CD and want to install the operating system you'll need to format your hard disk drive. If you have allot of data on you're hard disk drive, (In Win 2000) Suggest you create a second partition within the free space of you're hdd and install windows XP Pro. Boot you're system with the XP CD. Pay close attention to the display screens. Follow the instructions for creating a second partition.
Format the new partition. (Quick). Install windows XP on the new partition. Once completed you can copy your personal data to win XP.
If you choose to keep the win 2000 partition and you do not wish to have a dual boot system than remove/delete the root files from the 2000 partition. These files; Autoexec.bat and Boot.ini. You're new XP Boot.ini should read like this;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer
Once you're satisfied an no longer need win 2000 use windows diskmgmt.msc from the run command to delete the win 2000 partition.
Win 2000 uses a FAT16 where Win XP uses the FAT NTFS.

Cheers!

DP 300U

DP 300U's can get be pretty uncooperative when attached to a different router. One solution is to reset the DP 300U to its factory settings. Use the PS Admin software to do this. (If you lost the PS Admin software, you should be able to download it from the internet.) If the software prompts you for a password and you do not know it, try "SYSXXXX", where XXXX is the last four digits of the MAC address located on the underside of the print server.
After you reset the DP 300U you will need to set it up from scratch, a process which is not particularly intuitive. Refer to your "Quick Install Guide" (download it from D-link's web site if you don't have it anymore).

Forgotted the Ip of D-Link DP 300U print server

You may use the PSAdmin software to configure your print server even if you don't know the IP address. The only requirement is that the DP-300U has to be in the same network (subnet) as your PC running PSAdmin. In the PSAdmin, you will then be able to view or change the IP address.

Here is the link to download PSAdmin:
http://support.dlink.com/products/view.asp?productid=DP%2D300U#apps

Remember that if you also have forgotten the Admin password, you will have to ship the unit to D-Link in order to have it factory reset.

do you have an admin icon on your desktop?
if not type in the ip addx 192.168.1.1 and see if you go to the admin.
on network connections , right click on my network places, click map network drive,
select a drive letter and then browse for the two folders on the "myserver" select one of them and click apply or ok. the drive will show up in mycopmuter do the same for the other folders
as far as the log in is concerned it is best to set a level 3 user name and pw on the server then do the same user name and pw for a new windows login user.

Where did my printserver go !!! ???

From your initial troubleshooting steps, it sounds like you are having an IP connectivity issue. I will make the assumption that your print server is configured with DHCP and not a static IP address (If it is has a static IP address, make sure it is configured for the correct subnet). If this is the case, you should be able to log on to your broad band router and see what IP address was given out for it in the DHCP Lease section. Next, try pinging (open a command prompt and type: ping 192.168.2.103) the IP address of the print server. This will confirm that you have proper connectivity to it. Next, make sure you have file and print sharing enabled on your Win XP machine.
