I have run more than one call for this complaint only to find the bulb was not tightened enough. But ......
Other options are, the light switch failed, and needs to be replaced. The old one needs to be pried out and unfortunately it can be ruined in the process. But that's the process.
The last common problem, is the socket itself has failed, and the assembly must be replaced.
I know, irritating sometimes.
A while back, I ran into a batch of GE bulbs that for some reason would not seat properly. Seemed O.K. but would not work. Changed brands and everything was fine.
