cd rom/dvd player will not play disks

I have the same problem and it does show up in the device manager. I checked the drivers and tried to rollback when it did work once and still nothing.
I tried also to download (OMNIPATCHER) which was suggested on another site and no luck. HELP!!!!!!

My Acer notebook will not play DVDs. Window Media Player asked me to download a DVD program online, then a JPEG, then a zip file, then a converter, which I did, then it said to reduce my resolution and color, which I also did. It still doesn't work and says "reduce resolution and color" all the time.

Wizdoes the drive shows up on the device manager?
if no ten reinstall it it wil do the trick
