Vertical lines means bad video chip which is too costly to be worth making the repair. However, the second problem of no picture at all with a flickering power light means no high voltage going to CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lights that backlight the screen. This is a easy problem to solve. It is usually just bad capacitors on the high voltage power supply circuit board. Capacitors only cost about 50 cents each and are easy to de-solder and resolder.

No. The newer LCDs can do both. But they are a TV to start with the option to hook up a Desktop.

I have a similar problem.
Switching the screen off (front panel button) and on again after waiting a few seconds fixes it.
This is a recent problem, so I'm expecting it to get worse and worse until one day!!!!!!

Proview 700P lcd monitor problem

Your monitor has been enabled as an extended monitor, not a clone.
Easy way to see is open a window, grab it and drag it to the other monitor (drag it right, not left). Just remember even if you have the external monitor on your left side, it is really on the right side according to the computer.
Check the display properties for a clone option if you want both to show the same thing.

Hope that helps a little.

Need help: ProView 700P Silver LCD Monitor

You do NOT need a driver. Your monitor is broken. The high voltage power supply that provides power to light the CCFL cold cathode fluorescent lights is broken. The most common problem is that the 470uF 25V capacitors on the power supply circuit board are bad. Bad Caps have a swollen and sometimes leaky top. There are 6 capacitors that cost about 50 cents apiece from . Buy high temperature replacement capacitors rated at 105C. If you can't de-solder and resolder have some 14 year old kid do it for you.

Any high switching power supply of the same voltage and amperage rating will work for you. You may have to cut the end off of your old one and wire it to the new one to make it work but don't waste your money buying a specific power supply.
Good Luck!
