Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/SN Color Laser Printer
That is an error caused by the print head not being able to move freely.
Most likely some ink has seeped into the staineless steel pivot block that allows the print head to move from home to print posption.
4 most likely problems.
1. The staineless steel print block is contaminated by ink.
2. The machine somehow was unpluged or lost power with the drum wiper between the drum and print head and is now tacked to the print head.
3. One of the cables has moved and is hindering the proper movement of the print head.
4. The drive motor gear chain has slipped out of timing. So they say. That can cause the problem according to documentation. But I have never seen this motor move out of proper timing.
To decreas the likelyhood of this problem in the future. Make sure the printer is LEVEL, front to back and side to side to minimize the possibility of the liquified ink leaking out of the print head.
A print head failure is pretty much unlikely with this code.
