Problem for LG (GSA-4167B) DVD RW Dual Layer Burner

Hi,
I have bought a new LG DVD writer. This drive is able to read and play the DVD's that I write in that drive, but I have few movies bought from Canada and it's not able to recognise those DVD moview. When I insert the DVD, the DVD writer light blinks for 3-4 mins and when it stops I went inside the drive and did not find any file in the drive. This DVD movie I can play very easily in my Philips DVD player.
Please let me know if you have any solution for this problem.

Check the box or manual of your DVD writer... See if it support the DVD format of the DVD disk... There are a lot DVD formats nowadays, like DVD, DVD4, HDVD, HDVD-9, etc...

Sounds like regional setting problem but most of the drives can change about 5 times of their region.It changes automatically by inserting a different region disc and playback of it.
But i would suggest to try a firmware update..that solved a similar problem.
About changing region is easy on windows xp.Open explorer.Find your dvd-rom right click and Properties.Go to hardware tab check your dvd-rom and properties again.Now properties for your player are here.Check tab dvd region.You will see how many changes left and also change your region.Dont test if you are not sure about the place you finaly want to have, cause cause the last change will remain for ever and not possible to change that.
