Sharp LC-52D62U HDTV won't tune-in channel 21.

My Sharp LC-52D62U HDTV won't tune-in channel 21. I have cable TV and the coax cable is connected directly to the TV. I've done the channel scan several times but it skips over channel 21. If I tune to it manually all I get is black and white wavy lines and buzz in the audio. The previous smaller LCD TV tuned it in ok. The cable company came and checked the cable at the TV and his testing instrument showed channel 21 was working fine.

My question is: Do you know of any service codes to manually change the channel frequency for channel 21?

My thought is that channel 21 is a little off the tuning frequency to receive the signal properly.

BTW, The TV tunes in all of the other channels including all the QAM local HDTV channels just fine.

Re: Sharp LC-52D62U HDTV won't tune-in channel 21.

I finally got Sharp to repair the TV. It was under warenty but they said if the problem wasn't with the TV they were going to charge me for the service call. I told them I wanted a new TV. They sent the tech instead of a new TV. He replaced the turner card and it worked!! Now I get all the channels as well as channel 21.

Sounds like the signal is probably too strong. The TV is not the problem.

How are you connecting it to cable tv?

If you are using a coaxial cable to a cable box you have to turn to channel 3.0 with a Sharp remote by pressing 3.0 enter the dot (.) is down by the 0. There is a way around this if you don't have a Sharp remote. You can go into the menu and complete a channel scan. If the model you own is the one pictured then you should have the coax cable connected where it says analog if you are connecting to a cable box this way.

If you are using composite, component, or hdmi cables you press the input button on the television and pick the right input. It is recommended that you do not use the coax cable anyway unless you do not have a cable box. There is an input button on the television and on the remote.
