Question about Microsoft Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse 4000
My comp. is not reading the USB reciever to my mouse. It's either that, or the reviever and mouse are not synced themselves, but I don't think it's that because I've hit the connnect button on both devices several times. It was working a few days ago, then I went traveling with it and it no longer works so I'm wondering if that's part of the problem. There is no visible damage on either device, so I'm confused. Thanks in advance.
Has this mouse for 3 years and the green light stop working on the receiver. I pryed apart the receiver and soldered the main outside anchor solder joints on the USB plug and it started working! I figured I had nothing to lose. This one will be a good backup mouse as I already ordered a new one.... (Someone else mentioned this as a solution in this thread and it was a GREAT tip!)

I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000.
I have tried: 1) new batteries in the mouse; 2) re-synching the mouse & USB plug in device; and 3) installing (what I think was the software for this mouse) - all to no avail.
The light does not come on the USB plug in no matter which USB port I use and the error message reads "USB device not recognized".
download.com did not have a download for this device to try to re-load it.
Any help or suggestions?

I have the same problem, my receiver 1024 hit the floor and I loose rage connection with the mouse, I opened found a little transistor loose, I stick it back but does not work. I guest it is a sensitive transistor broken. don't let the receiver get hit.

I have already broken two of them. It seems that the receiver is very sensitive to hits. Probably a PCB issue. I disassembled the receiver and discovered that if I bend it a little it starts working but if I leave it stops.
