Question about Refrigerators
The above refrigerator has in-the-door water and ice dispenser. During one episode of getting ice, the motor driving the auger kept running and won't stop running even when the ice dispenser paddle in the door returns to its full out position. Opening the door of course turns the motor off. I had to pull the whole ice maker out of the freezer to shut off the motor. How do I remove the in-the-door dispenser to examine/test the switch?
press the reset button (black) on the bottom of the icemaker, the system will go through a cycle, and water will pour into the tray.

If you cant manually turn your auger motor, it may be bad. Does it dispense solid ice or no ice at all? Another thing may be your control panel. That could be bad too, it's the one sending juice to both your solenoid and auger motor.

the front cover will come off. if you dont see any screws then it WILL unsnap. look for a slot on the top or bottom of the cover. good luck some of them can be nasty

Yes it could be either, BUT I would go back and make sure that everything you did to stop it the first time is undone. Is everything setted correctly? Is the switches in the right place?
Neither the solenoid or the microswitch could cause the problem you had before, so I would suspect something is not right with the ice maker itself.

That could be a sign of a drippy water valve. When water valves get a little age on em they drip like an old faucet. Also if the ice maker itself overfills or is not level then a tad of water gets into the bin. This makes the ice stick together. An unusually long dwell in the auto defrost cycle can also cause the cues to melt and stick together. The only way to fix it is to do some diagnostics.
