My problem is that when i try to hook my speaker wire up to one of the channels on my amp it sparks a little when i plug it in what could be the cause of that and the channel plays low and cause the amp to go into protection mode.

If you hook up speaker and hear a pop you more then likely have 1 ch blown causing dc on output. You can use multimeter and measure voltage for both ch,s between positive and negative terminals..One channel will more then likely measure 0v and the other one which is defective wll measure a dc voltage. These amps have what are called mehsa bars which output transistors are mounted to. Need to contact Rockford fosgate 800-669-9899 to arrange for flat rate repair.

I have a old 2001 rockford fosgate 2 channel p5002 model in great condition just need to know how many watts is it and which subwoofers are compatible to this amp? thanks

Your amp is rated at 500 watts. Here is the break down of your wattage.

125x2 at 4 ohms
250x2 at 2 ohms
500x1 at bridged 4 ohms

When hooking up the amp make sure to use 4 gauge power and ground wire.
