Re: Hp protecttools

Hi !

if you forgot your password then that might become a problem now. you have to bring that to a service center to unlock that.

hope this will help you.

My ipaq 2750 has frozen on ProtectTools screen. I have activesync installed but it wont even recognise the cradle device

There's a chapter called 'Resetting your HP iPAQ' on your device's User Manual. Firstly, perform a soft reset. If it doesn't solve your problems, jump to the hard reset procedure. If it still doesn't do the job, then, perform the clean reset procedure.
Just in case you happen to miss its manual, you can download it from this location.

Hope you are able to sort your problems out.
Cheers! Carlos

Memory on HP ipaq 114.

there are two types of memory my friend

1. RAM
2. ROM both built in PDA

third type is Storage Card u can store music and photos there but u cannot merge it with RAM or ROM so pls try to understand this difference

secondly if u want me to help u out on this memory shortage

then u can reset the device i mean hard reset and re install ur applications by time ur ROM is occupied by some useless files and ur performance is de graded try to refresh ur OS
Hard reset
HP iPAQ Setup Assistant
Use HP iPAQ Setup Assistant to simplify configuring settings on your HP iPAQ.
HP iPAQ Setup Assistant lets you save the settings on your computer. This can help you restore configuration settings on your HP iPAQ at any time. HP iPAQ Setup Assistant also allows you to perform a factory reset on your HP iPAQ and view detailed product information.

To hard reset HP iPAQ 114:
- press and hold the 3 buttons Windows, OK and REC
- press the reset button for about 3-4 seconds and release it
- release the 3 buttons

u can see the video for that but it is in russian lang but self explanatory

third option is if u want to really get rid of this slow performance and shortage of space just get a clean CUSTOM ROM from for ur PDA strictly at ur OWN RISK

pls rate me fixya if i have fixed ur problem

HP ipaq h6320

Here is a link to the full manual, however it says right in there to not disassemble so you will probably have to find someone's who has done it (maybe on a PDA or Ipaq forum) and ask them for direction.

Data erased from iPAQ hx4700

If an ipaq loses power , then all data in RAM is lost. It's important to keep it charged. It's also important to do regular backups..... so there are two backup options - one is thru Activesync which will backup to your PC and one is the IPAQ's own backup program which will backup to the IPAQ FILE STORE (area in ROM) or a SD card. I do the Activesync backup every time I sync and then the IPAQ backup about once a week or immediately before a system change. Activesync backup ------------------------ Here is a guide which best explains it this guide suggests doing a full backup, but it's fine to do an incremental backup each sync - this means that only changes will be added to your backup and makes the whole process much quicker. IPAQ Backup ----------------- So under Programs is a program called IPAQ Backup. The default location is IPAQ FILE STORE which is an area in ROM and is not lost thru a power failure nor hard reset. You may also choos to backup to a SD card - a full backup will need roughly 20MB. So in this backup procedure, if you click on 'Browse' you can choose a SD card. A restore can then be performed from the IPAQ FILE STORE or SD card (depending on which location you chose) and so if you are away from your PC, this will be no problem. A restore this way , rather than thru Activesync is also much quicker, so if you have a choice go this route.

H2215 Blutooth Radio failed to turn on

The problem was in the HP ProtectTools security aplication. After disable the aplication and do a hard reset the bluetooth works. I had see that after the hard reset begins a process where some HP software are installed again. One of these software is the Broadcom driver of the Wifi/BT (You can see it for two seconds in the top bar). I think that the ProtectTools blocks some file upgrade (DLL, Exe, config file, etc.) that causes the problem. After solve the problem I have restored a full system backup done before disable the ProtectTools and do the hard reset, and all still works fine. I hope this can help you.
