Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer says ink near empty

I replaced the black and yellow ink catridges when they ran out but the printer hasn't recognised them as being there. The message reads....Near Empty Black....and Near Empty Yellow....even though they are full. When I print something, it's is very dull...almost black and white. There is no evidence of the red or blue either. I have turned the printer off, removed and re-installed the catridges but nothing is working....very frustrating. Can anyone help. How do I reset the printer??? My yellow ink is empty. I just want to print in black. It won't print in black.

Black electrical tape works like a charm on a Brother MFC-465CN. Thanks for the tip! :-)

Re: Printer says ink near empty

I just had a similar problem.
It wouldn't print in black or color while it was indicating low on yellow. I pulled the inks and they were all more than 50% full.
I found a solution on another website on how to defeat the optical ink level detector which causes this problem. Some people use black electrical tape over the detector, right side of the ink well looking at the unit. I simply took a black marker and darkened in the clear plastic ridge on the ink cartridges case.Again, it's on the right side looking at the unit. Now all ink is indicated as full and it won't stop until dry instead of ripping me off and sending me to Staples with a 25% full ink cartridge to replace.

Ink cartridge not properly installed

I have gone through all the forums but none of them worked...

The correct solution for the problem is the canon printer needs to have both the color and black catridges present in the printer...
So even if you purchased new black catridge only you need to have the old color catridge to be placed in the place of color catridge....

So it will detect the catridges and if any of the one is empty it asks to select black at the time of printing and simply select it you will get a black print...

So make sure both the catridges either empty or full need to be placed to detect the catridges....

I hope it will be helpful.....

I put a yellow ink cartridge in printer and it is new but the printer is saying yellow cartridge is empty so i am unable to print anything what do i do

Did you remove the plastic Seal undernith your ink Catridge, also check for any dry ink deposites where the yellow catridge sits in the catridge carriage box, if present use an alcohol cleaning pad to clean the carriage and re-install and verify.

Mfc 440cn printer says 'ink empty' to new full ink cartridge

The usual obvious fix is to buy a new catridge, insert, power off machine, then switch back on to reset any sensors. But if the circuitry on the machine itself is faulty it wont fix it.

I used to own an MFC 260C. It had a perfectly good full ink catridge in it, that was working fine, suddenly did not recognise the cartridge anymore.

I pulled the machine apart and found that 2 of the 4 sensors on the cct board at the back of the cartridge housing were loose. These sensors pass light through the exposed part of the cartridge to see if ink is there. So if these are faulty, you will never clear the "No Cartridge" or "Ink Empty..." or "Near Empty Ink ..." messages on the MFC260C and prbably other similar printers in the MFC range.

Why did they fail? Because the soldering on these sensors was poor quality.

I would never buy another Brother machine because of this, also because they design the machine to be totally useless unless all the ink ccartridges are full. Shame on you Brother, and kiss my *** for the $160 pile of junk I bought off you that was only on its second batch of cartridges (ie very little use)

Canon mp460 printer. refilled cartridge not recognised

Dear Sir,

This is deffinately due to catridge circuit problem.Canon suggest that we have to replace emptied catridges with new genuine canon catridge they dont suggest refilling and also not give any support for refilling catridges. So you can replace catridge with new one.
This Happens due to weakining of catridge circuit portion or may long period printer not in use.
If you not want to replace catridges i will give you the possible hints it may fix refilled catridges.
1.Clean the catridge circuit portion with soft cloth, care must be taken that there is no smudge or ink traces on catridge circuit.
2.Clean the ciruit of printer catridge placing box present inside the printer .wipe out the any sumdge or ink traces.
Then re install the catridges. give the print if it shows error press resume button continuosly. I think it will fix your problem.
If it is not solution is replace the catridge with new one.

good luck
