Question about JVC GR-D370 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Tape Error!! My Camera works fine. But when I turn it on, the thing that tells you how much tape you have left doesn't tell me anything. It'll say it's recording, but when I go to playback, nothing's there. I had this problem for over a month and I really loooove this Camcorder and I really want it to work. I don't have the kind of spare $$ to get a new one. PLEASE HELP ME If you want to e-mail me instead, contact me @ or (I prefer this one) Thanks

You might consider getting a new tape, but i feel there is a little more to this problem then "meets the eye" so to speak, try using a new tape, but if all else fails, take it to a repairer for a quote and be sure to explain the problem in detail, as sometimes these problems do not just up and leave without some TLC.

JVC GR-DVM55U Error E06

"E06" it is the carriage mechanism that has failed. and will not carry the tape to the heads and thus is not passing the sensor that tells you if the tape is in position and then telling the unit as it should there is fault.
take it to the nearest dealer and get it fixed.

Sony Camcorder DCR-TVR140 NTSC does not recognize tape in camera

this error C:31:23 is related to the s reel and this occurs only when the tension of the tape is more,
1 st try to change the tape
if the problem persists then u need to take it to the service center as the tape path of the mechanical section is to be adjusted
as you are telling that your camcorder is not showing remaining time (time code ) then head assy. also need to be cleaned ..try to use cleaning tape for 10 sec. not more then that .

Camera will not insert tape. Mechanism works OK without tape. Sony dcr-hc42

A C31:40 error indicates that the drum (the spinning video head) is either not spinning or is not supplying a signal to the main computer to tell the computer it is spinning. It could be a bad drum or a loose connection. It will likely take a qualified technician to verify the diagnosis.

Camera is a JVC GR-DF470 Video Camera. Problem is UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE EJECT AND REINSERT TAPE ERROR 03. I have done this and problem still remains.

I have the same model of camera and the same problem has occurred after two years of use. I am not sure why it happens but checking on other web sites, it may have to do with tape tension and the brand of tape. Up to now, I was using Sony and JVC tapes which worked fine but a recent purchase of TDK tapes seems to have caused this problem.

My fix was to take the tape out and then manually wind the tape a couple of turns by inserting one flat blade screwdriver in the tape lock tab (bottom middle of tape case) and using another to wind the tape. This appeared to fix the tape tension and after loading it back in, the tape and the camera worked fine.

Hope this helps.

Canon camocorder thick gray lines on ever recording

Canon support was of no help. They ****! To fix the problem this is what I figured out.

  1. Before you start filming what you want record or just advance the tape 10 secs or so.
  2. Record/ video whatever you planned.
  3. Now when the thick grey lines come up on play back don't freak out.
  4. Simply rewind the tape to the beginning and record briefly in the blank portion at the beginning (careful not to tape too long as to tape over your intended recording).
  5. Rewind and play the thick grey lines should now be gone.
How did I figure this out just a fluke. No cleaning, no spray pretty simple. At first did not understand it but it works EVERYTIME for me. I'll deal with it until I get around to buying a new HD video camera and it won't be a Canon. Hope this helps.

Newly Inserted Tape Ejects Automatically

Usually the drive mechanism is made up of rubber rollers, belt, etc. If these are worn out (in time), the drive mechanism will slide and will not be able to rotate the tape. If the cam cannot detect the movement ?n the tape then it will efect it.

I need help, Please!!!!!

the only thing I can suggest is look at the tape( open the tape door). Is there a line or crease on the tape?? yes ?? not a thing can be done unless you wanna send the tape out to a studio and have them ride the tape path untill the tape plays through., if it dosent look creased then Sorry to say that the tape path post are probably loose in the tape path section of the camcorder. Have it looked at before it gets worse. Hope its the first thing I said. Good luck

Remove cassette tape (message)

No I doubt if it was humidity that was causeing the problem as you would have had an error of "DEW" Sounds lke you have a tapepath problem or a jammed mechanism and that would tell you to eject the tape as it wouldnt load to full position. I would advise on a repair like this you let a pro do the repair unless you know all about these small mechanism Call 1 800 828-4040 good Luck
