Question about RCA 25110RE3 Phone

Headset mic doesn't work

Phone works fine, but once I switch to the headset no one can hear me...I toggled the mute function a bunch of times, but no change.

I can hear the person on the other end, but they can't hear me...

My guess is bad wiring in the headset mic...any ideas?

I got this phone less than 6 months ago; all of a sudden, the headset mic stopped working between one call and the next. There's nothing you can "re-seat" here-it appears to have broken.

I also had the mic stop working - There IS a two year warranty, IF you still have your receipt! I will be contacting a local electronics repair shop to see what the cost to fix would be.

I also had the mic stop working. This has happened on anther RCSA 25110 headset I bought! I've tried everything and can't get it to work.

The mic stopped working on mine after two years. What I noticed (before I threw the whole thing out) was that the rechargeable battery in the headset seemed expanded and was pushing apart the plastic housing. I really liked this phone, but it makes me nervous that a battery at the side of my head would "expand".

Yeah good luck getting RCA to replace the thing if it does break after 3 months -- so much for their 2-year warranty. Instead of owning up to a shoddy product, which is obvious based on the individual complaints out there, they are trying to blame me for abusing the product! Um, no, it's for business use, and I use it everyday to take customer service calls. They wouldn't even put me on w/ a supervisor ... they were busy. yeah ,busy handling calls for their shoddy products. Time to call the Better Business Bureau.

I, too have that problem. Everything works fine, except the person on the other end is not hearing me, although I can hear them clearly. Appears to be a broken or bent wire in the section where the microphone attaches to the earpiece section. If I push the headphone section backwards, the person can hear me. It's aggrevating talking and having the other person ask "are you still there"? I was planning on buying another RCA headset replacement or a plantronic headset replacement(suppose to work with any corded or cordless phone), but decided to check to see if others had the same problem first. This was very informative. Thanks a bunch everyone.

Same problem, 1 year old unit. Took it apart and it seems the wire from the mic was frayed at the spot it enters the ear piece. I think it is from the rotation of the mic arm. Unable to rejoin the two wires so throwing unit away. I think the key to longevity with these RCA's is to not swing the arm from end to end - treat it gently, leave it in place for either right or left side use but don't try to use for both. If this is really the cause of all these headset failures the fix for RCA would be simply to beef up the wire or pad it where it enters the ear piece. Sounds easy enough to me, what do you think RCA???

Disconnect the all lines and power

How come people can't hear me from my headset?

Volume only has to do with the sound level you hear.

The only thing that affects the sound the other ends hears is the microphone, Have you tried moving the mic? Has the headset ever worked properly?

If the other end hears you at all, then the headset SHOULD NOT be muted, but it's worth checking out. They put the mute switch on the underside of the boom mic and sometimes people hit the switch by mistake when moving the boom.

What to check if Plantronics cordless mic does not work but earpiece works fine

If the party you call cannot hear you, check two things:

1- while on phone with the party, change the configuration dial on the headset base to 1. (We have Nortel phones and it must be on 1 for headset and mic to work with Nortel phone sets.)
2- Push IN on the headset volume control. Pushing IN activates or deactivates to MUTE feature on the headset.

Hope this tip helps you.

I have the Plantronics S11 headset and I can hear callers, but they can't hear me, I need to know what to do. The phone is working fine and everything is all set up correctly as far as I can tell.

There are a couple of basic things to check first. You want to make sure the mute is turned off and your outgoing (mic) volume is loud enough (there is the speak level switch on the side and the speak volume control on top). Also, you want to make sure it is connected through the handset jack on the phone (generally it will not work through the headset jack on the phone). Finally you want to make sure it's configured right (scale located on the side).

Good Luck from Headsets Direct!

Don't think its the drivers, because you can hear audio.

Do you have your mic with your headset or separatedly? If with headset, maybe your headset has a physical switch where you can enable/disable mic (seen this feature on some Locitech headsets).

You can also check whether you have Mic muted in your audio control panel. Go to Control Panel, open Sounds and Devices and File - Properties if I remember correctly (sorry, I have Vista now) and put a check before Mic property to bring out the Mic volume level bar to see whether it's muted or not.

Hope this helps,

I can hear trough my headset but not talk

okay, this is obvious but first of all make sure this switch on your headset is not on mute. If alls good there go to your dashboard settings and you should see communication and make sure none of these are blocked. If this also isn't the problem it looks like you are going to need a new headset. It should have a years warrenty if that helps?

My Jabra BT500 is on mute. Callers can not hear me. It worked fine at first now nothing.

When powered up and in "talk" mode (during a call) hold the volume up and down "bumps" simultaneously. This engages/disengages the headset's mute function.... Hope this helps...
