Re: Forgot Kenwood head unit Code

You can always try the most common number sequences,(1234,1111 etc...) otherwise it has to go to an Authorized service center. You find one at under support.

Cant play cd in player it says (TOC) meaning the cd is dirty of no good so i put a new cd in and it still dident play.

It's not your dirty CD but dirt on the head. Canned air usually works

But if not, very gently use alcohol and once over the optical laser then use the other end of the q tip to dry it.

I do this all the time just as a precaution. Unfortunately Netflix sends me a lot of dirty disks. quite a few cracked, too.

Hi i have a kdc-mp728 car stereo and i don't know the security code number, the sisstem is not operate, how i can turn on the radio?

To the right of the six preset buttons on the face of the unit is a small small concave reset button. Push this to reset the entire unit. You will lose all your setting and the protection code will also be reset. The factory default is not to use the security code, but I recommend setting it to something you remember because this happens often enough on Kenwoods.

How can i connect my ipod to my kenwood kdc-mp7028???

If you dont have an MP3 or Ipod input, then the best way is to buy an FM transmitter. This device plugs into your cigarette lighter and when connected to the Ipod will transmit the signal to the stereo unit. this device is actually like a micro radio station that you have to tune in on the Kenwood. These units are available at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or online at Ebay, and Amazon.

Security code Lockout

I had a similar issue with a head unit in a newer Volkswagen. There was an unlock code burried in the vehicle's owners's manual.

Since your stero is an aftermarket model, I would bet the unlock code is in the manual for the head unit.

Security code

I wish I could have found you a better solution, but the following is Kenwood's official answer according to their FAQ:

"If you do not know the security code for your unit, you will need to take the unit to a Kenwood authorized service center to have it decoded. The code feature can only be activated when the code has been entered twice, so it isn't accidentally activated. The service center will often require you to provide a proof of purchase as this feature is designed for theft prevention and the proof of purchase will ensure you are the rightful owner of the product."
