Question about Projection Televisions

Power slow start/bulb light

Replaced the projection bulb and the light on the front panel still remains red/orange, is there a reset button or something? Also when you push the power button to turn the tv on, sometimes it has a slow start - like - the power light turns green/yellow like its about to come on and then shuts it self off and you repeat the procedure and it finally comes on. Any suggestions?

Re: power slow start/bulb light

Did you get the exact replacement lamp? Some have 1.1 arc gap some have 1.3 they wont interchange. If you got the exact lamp and your trouble is still the same. It could possibly be your ballst.

The most common cause of Panasonic Rear Projection LCD TVs not starting is bulb failure. The PT-60LC13 users manual gives some help in translating the LEDs on the front of the TV.

If the TV worked normally for a period of time (months or years) and won't start, the most likely cause is bulb failure. There is no way to measure the bulb, sometimes the bulb is visibly damaged when it fails. Remove the Lamp Assembly and look at the bulb.

If there was an On-Screen Lamp Replace warning and TV won't start, bulb has failed.

The first step with all Panasonic Rear Projection TV "No Picture" problems is bulb replacement. If that does not remedy the problem, get a technician, there are no user serviceable parts. Guessing if the ballast, power supply, controller board or optical engine is faulty is not practical.

The Panasonic Lamp Gallery shows all Panasonic models and Lamp Numbers. There is also a link to Panasonic DIY bulb and lamp replacement.

What you need is to have the lamp timer reset. To do so, perform the following;

You will need two hands.

With the remote, press and hold down the "mute" button.

Simultaneously press and hold down the "enter" button on the front of the TV.

After about 5 seconds, a box will appear that shows the total number of hours on the lamp. To reset these hours, press the right arrow button on the remote. After doing so, another box will appear with a confirmation question and an icon for which button on the remote to press to reset the lamp hours.

If you have a voltage meter you can pull the bulb out and check for continuity by placing the probes on the power plugs of the bulb. If you have continuity the bulb should be good, and it may be the lamp ballast.

The lamp is either defective, not connected properly to the wiring or plugs (careful alignment required on the two connections), wrong type bulb, or the front panel is not replaced properly to trigger the panel sense switch (lower right side of panel)
