Question about ViewSonic VX2000 (Silver, Black) Monitor

1 Answer

VX2000 I have a ViewSonic VX2000 that has started to turn itself off and then back on again randomly. The Power On light (green and amber) also turns off, so I know it is not a signal problem. Perhaps Power Supply ? any advice

Screen loses power frequently. Comes back on by itself

If it does comes back on by itself, make sure that the vga cable is properly connected on the vga port on your computer. Does the led light on the monitor turns from green to amber? if yes, check for connection cables and the power cable.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

Blank screen

This looks like a problem with the video card or the power supply to the monitor. Try connecting a different monitor and if you still face the same problem then probably you may need to have a look at your video card or its connection in motherboard

This is most likely a problem of bad electrolytic capacitors. New capacitors must be soldered in. Visit for more information. Before doing any of that though, check if it is still under warranty. Here is viewsonic's warranty information.

No display (black) - power light is amber color

The video signal is not reaching your monitor, check the pins on the connector from the monitor to the computer, then check the video card:

Turn off your computer, unplg the power, and then take out the video card. Wait 5 minutes and then put the card back into the computer and turn it on. For onboard video; turn off the computer, unplug the power, then hold down the power button on the front for 5-10 seconds, then plug back in and turn on.

Make sure the video card is snug in the AGP/PCI slot. If this is built-in video, try borrowing a video card from another computer and install it in this one. If the borrowed card works, then replace you card. If video is built in, then you can disble the onboard video and use the new card without having to replace your motherboard.
