Re: black ink

I agree it definitely helps to know which model of device we are trying to diagnose .. it also sounds like you just have a defective cartridge... I would send it back for a replacement.. and if they are a reliable vendor.. we do generally stand by our products regarding a cartridge that has leaked all over your unit..

Thank You

1. Replaced Color and Black ink cartidges on my HP D5160: Color cartridge - NEW Black cartridge - REFILL SYMPTOMS> Red flashing exclaimation LED, black ink cartridge appears empty (0 dots in the...

Black printer ink in HP Printer may fail to be recognized by the printer. Most times an error message will be sent indicating that something is wrong with the black print cartridge. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. In such a case a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

I filled my cartilages but they printer says they are empty

If you refilled the cartridges with a refilling kit then this error will continue. You see, cartridges have a chip installed on them and it is programed to calculate approximate ink remaining after a certain number of pages are printed.

For eg, a chip on a new cartridge is programed that a full page takes say .5 ml, then if you print 1 full page or two half pages, it will deduct .5ml from the ink volume. When it reaches zero, it does not know how much ink is in there; it never knew in the first place. Now if you refill it up, the chip just thinks that all the pages have been printed so the cartridge must be zero.

In short, this error will stay, if you are able to print ignore the warning and continue to print until the print quality degrades. If you are unable to print you might have to install a new cartridge. OR if you're luck, you may find a chip reseter on the internet or from the refill service.

Printer says to see manual for 50C. What's the problem?

well there is a couple things going one, first 50C means it is a cartirage problem, if you recently refill your ink cartilages, and waited for the cartilages to be super low, there is a fuse inside the electronic board that blows and it not fixable, dell is not right, there printer cartilages are made so you cant refill them, if you wanna bypass paying a fortune for replacements ones thru dell, go buy the lexmark brand ones that are the same looking as the dell ones, cut off the top part of you dell ones, and put those on your new ones, also you can only fill the dell ones 3 maybe 4 times before the electronic reader goes bad. Hope this helps

Printer not printing in black. Print Color only.

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please try the refill cartridge on some other printer. If it’s working fine on the other printer then check the settings of the printer which are by default 960 dpi (dots per inch) but due to some reason this size has been reduced. Now you have to change this setting to more than 960, around 1200 dpi and then check out that if your printer works fine.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

I just refilled black ink of my new printer Lexmark x5495. Does not recognise the black cartilage and keeps on asking for alignment. When it prints alignment page it does not use the refilled black ink....

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.

How to reset ink cartridges after refilling them

Go to the following website and download the freeware InkMonitor 2.1.2: You have to add data about new cartridge. HP60 ink cartridge information, 200 pages per cartridge. This works great for me. It gives you a history of everything printed. This way you can gauge when its time to refill your cartridges. You must refill before they run out of ink or you will burn out the print heads and have to replace them.
