Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
My computer starts up but only so far then it says on a whole black screen
"We apolegise for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect you files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
If a previous start up attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the power or the reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
Safe Mode (Useable option that I have tryed did not work)
Safe Mode with Networking (Useable option I have tryed did not work)
Safe Mode with Command Prompt (Useable option I have tryed did not work)
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) (Useable option I have tryed did not work)
Start Windows Normally (Useable option I have tryed did not work)
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice."
That is all it says and I would greatly appreciate the help I have tryed using all the CD's that came with it and nothing worked and that is all i can think about telling you now thanks.
Pop an XP CD in and Boot from it.. When it gets to the point where it says "Press "Enter" now to install Windows or Press "R" for the Repair console"? press R.. This will take you to a Command C: prompt after it asks which "Windows installation you want to access" Hit 1 Then Enter (generally for C:), If you had a Password it will have to be entered and prompt. If it asks and no passwrd is there hit enter. When you get to C:/ type: "fixboot" And hit enter.. Y for yes/enter. It asks for verification. Then Type" fixmbr "and hit enter. Same verification. Then type "chkdsk/p"and force checkdisk to run even though the file system may have apeared to be fine.. (Saves a step) Type exit after all are done and try rebooting from the hard drive.. Good luck!..
(If It does not work change the hard drive)..

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
