I got his ipod touch 1st gen. on the internet and everything worked except for the sound on the music but i figured out tht i could her the sound faintly but i cant get it to turn up.....ive tried the...

Since you got this from the internet I think the person you bought it from might be messing with you. On the iPod touch it is possible to limit how loud music is played, and a prankster might do this to you. To check if they did this:
  1. On your iPod, go to the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down to "Music."
  3. Choose "Volume Limit"
Here is where you would be able to find out if there is a volume limit on your iPod. If they didn't lock it then you can slide the volume slider all the way to the right, but if they did lock the volume, you have to go to option 2.
Option 2 is to restore it with iTunes. And this will fix just about anything that goes wrong with your iPod.
  1. Plug your iPod into iTunes and sync it.
  2. On the sidebar on the left, click on your iPod and go to the summary tab.
  3. Click on restore and let iTunes do its thing.
  4. After it is restored you should be able to put all of your music back on it and hopefully the iPod will be fixed.
Good luck!

The volume is messed up from the jailbreak. To un-jailbreak it, plug it in, and go to itunes and restore the Ipod touch. Careful, as this will DELETE everything on the Ipod, but its the only way to fix this and any other jailbreak issues. You can always go back and reinstall everything after you have restored the Ipod.

Very low volume on a brand new ipod touch what should i do to fix this problem

Turn on Ipod, on the left hand side there is a volume control switch. While you are on a song, hold the top of the volume control switch to increase the volume.
If that does not work then touch "settings", then touch "music" and make sure your "Volume Limit" is set to "Off", if it is not touch "Volume Limit" and set it to "Off".

moz-screenshot-8.pngmoz-screenshot-9.pngthat is not a problem follow the steps below and if it doesnt work let me know i will assist you from there. unfortunately the password for the volume lock is whatever you set it as but you can do this. Plug in your iPod and iTunes will open ( or open it youself)Select all you songs by clicking ctrl and A. (PC's: Ctrl and A at the same time. Mac's: Apple and A at the same time.) Right click your songs. Click "Get Info" Click "Yes" Click the "Options" tab Check "Volume Adjustment" Put the Curser all the way to "+100%". Select Ok! Hidden Folder for Mac's Enable hidden folders. If you go into Terminal and run these two commands all the hidden files appear when you open Finder. defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE killall Finder To get back to hiding hidden files use these commands defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE killall Finder Navigate to the hidden folder named "iPod_Control", and once there click on the folder "Device". Once there, delete the file named "_volumelocked". Eject your iPod. Then, restart your iPod. You can do this by holding down the center and menu button for at least 6 seconds. Once your iPod has rebooted, check and make sure that it worked. Simply go into "Settings", "Volume Limit". If it asks for a PIN, you did it WRONG. Retry the above procedure.
Hidden folders for windows PC Enable hidden folders. In Windows explorer,go to "Tools", "Folder Options". Then click on the tab called "View", and under "Hidden Files and Folders", click "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Navigate ("My Computer" to double-click on the icon of your attached iPod) to the hidden folder named "iPod_Control", and once there click on the folder "Device". Once there, copy the file named "_volumelocked" to a folder on your hard drive then delete it from the iPod. Eject your iPod. Then, restart your iPod. You can do this by holding down the center and menu button for at least 6 seconds. If using an iPod Nano, hold down the center button and menu button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. Once your iPod has rebooted, check and make sure that it worked. Simply go into "Settings", "Volume Limit". If it asks for a PIN, you did it WRONG. Retry the above procedure.
Warning: Note that some methods may not work on all iPods. Not all ipods have the file called "_volumelocked" it is impossible to get better sound on some of the ipod gens, for example the 5g 60-80 gigabyte ipods. Don't Listen to music too loudly. It will destroy your hearing. Don't delete any more files than necessary as it may prevent your iPod from working

I don,t remember the combo for the lock I put on my volume limit. How do i restore volume? I locked it accidentally on low .

plug it into your computer and through itunes on your original computer you will be able to reset it. If it is not the original computer that you are using you will be able to reset it but will probably lose the information on it.

Then go to Settings and then volume limit and change it to your required volume

Volume stays low won't increase

Your volume limit on your ipod is probably set low. To check it, go all of the way to the ipod's main menu and go to settings. Then go to volume limit and put it where you would like it to be if it is too low. Then go back to your music and play it. Turn the volume up to your liking and it should work and play louder.
