Re: Very Dark Picture

The backlight is dead.

The screen is shot since this is an integrated LCD and backlight. If you can find another screen of similar size you might be able to swap parts out...but it's unlikely.

Check your dvd settings, read the manual that came with it. Or you can just pump up the brightness on the tv when watching movies.

Anyways, hope this helps.

My dvd players screen went dark while in use

is that a portable DVD player? if so it sounds like the backlight had died on you. I would contact the manufacturer and see if it is covered under warranty.

Just a really dark screen on all functions

If you are still under warranty try calling audiovox customer support at this telephone number 1-800-645-4994. Give them the model number of you dvd player and tell them the problem you are having with the dark screen. If you are not under warranty, You can still call them and ask them where to get service for bad power inverter or a bad back light problem. If they cannot help you you can go to this website They do all kinds of LCD repairs and also have a technical help telephone number. 1-877-870-0581. Give them a call and tell them the name of your dvd player and the model number and see if they can help you get repair service for it. I hope this information will help you with your problem.

GPX PDL705---Picture very dark

Sounds like the back lighting of the LCD screen is faulty. Is it a new unit - take it back. You might try the brightness and contrast controls and turn them up. If that doesn't help it needs to be repaired.

Screen is dark

If it uses the same technology as a laptop screen, there is 2 backlights behind the screen, they are like very thin fluorescent tubes (cold cathode) and there is a power supply that these use. It may have gone out like many PC's bad displays. I think it is due for replacement or an operation if you are skilled enough. Might just be an unseated ribbon cable which can be fixed by yourself.
