Hp 4100c no sigen of life ... electrical problem? how to fix that??
Mij hp 4100 c ( still cool after all these years) sudddenly does not give a sign of life today
I took it to the office,, worked fine, came home and after connecting the usb cable and adapter nog sign at all.
Maybe i harrassed it too much while walking with it.
-It does inot give a single sign of movement.( as it always does when i hit the start button for the pc, the right one)
-the pc does not recognise anything being connected.
Maybe I burnt a fuse but could not find anything inside it.
I hit the green unlock switch several times; no reaction.

Remove the printer from any UPS supplies, additional power supplies, or power strips.
Plug the printer into a wall outlet to check whether this resolves the problem.
If the printer is already plugged in, try another power source in the building independent of the one being used.
The line voltage and current source at
the printer location might need to be inspected to make sure that it
meets the printer's electrical specifications.
Turn the printer off then on.WARNING: Be careful when removing or reseating the fuser. Temperatures can reach 400+ degrees Fahrenheit.
If the message persists, turn the
printer off for 30 minutes to allow it to cool, then reseat the fuser
after checking the internal wiring connections on the right and left
side, ensuring that these connections are properly seated.
If the 50.1 or 50.2 error recurs after
power-cycling the printer or when trying to print, try installing a
known good fuser from another HP LaserJet 4100 series printer, if
If the fuser is near or at the end of its estimated life expectancy (approximately 200,000 pages), then replace the fuser.
After replacing the fuser, print a
Configuration page, a Menu map (shows fuser settings), an Event log, a
Supplies status page, and a Usage page, to reference the status of the
new fuser and to ensure that the previous fuser settings are in place
with the replacement fuser.

Press the RIGHT Navigation button.
Press the DOWN Navigation button to highlight PRINT CONFIGURATION
(or PRINT MENU MAP, etc, appears in the printer display.

If 50.x errors persist after properly
installing a known good fuser, or if the errors follow the questionable
fuser (provided it is not near the end of its estimated life
expectancy), contact HP for further assistance.
Turn the printer off for a few minutes and then back on. If that does not fix the problem, try to have the print queue cleared and tray again. Most of the time it's a PDF file that causes this problem. If that does not fix it, it may need a new Jetdirect card.
There is a program called Vuescan which works with the Scanjet 4100C and Vista. Do a search for Vuescan and find a site where you can download it for around $30. I used Vuescan with my scanner until recently when my scanner died.
