Because Scratch Live uses a time coded CD in the Axis 9, your options are limited as the turntable can't manipulate the signal as it does with regular CD's. Here are your options:

1. Only use scratch mode 4 - wherever you set your cue point is where the scratch will start and return upon touching but you will be able to release and continue playing.
2. Set your Serato to absolute mode to give you pitch control and key locking from your Axi9. Scratch mode 4 will work properly in absolute mode.
3. When turning on your turntables make sure you allow 10 seconds to pass before touching the jog wheel or loading your Serato disks.
4. When loading tracks in Scratch Live give a second or two before manipulating them with your turntables.
5. Try purchasing midi adapters, cable and software, you can assign the Scratch Live functions to your CD decks, it's time consuming and you still won't be able to use the effects but this may give you more control.

I have exactly the same problem, its annoying

1 thing which works is holding the button down then spinning the deck round, let go, turn off the scratch button, press play and turn on the scratch button again

DW079 CALIBRATION

Here is how you get your laser into adjustment modeY axis; Power and scan key at same time, unit then will tip from Y1 to Y2, then recenter. use up and down arrows to bring laser into adjustment. Let unit stabilize for 30 seconds, press scan key, you will get a continuos beep, now at same time press down arrow key. This will store your new calibration. To get X axis into adjustment mode power on and up arrow at same time, and for Z axis type laser onto Z axis and use adjustment procedure for Y axis. Saving your calibrations is the same as in Y axis. Hope this helps you

Whilst using my axis 9 it released a burning smell (rubber) and just turned off. Now it won't even turn back on and still has a cd inside.

bad capacitor on the inside of the unit.
usually the 10000uf 16v tall cap blue or black cap.
look for a bulge on the top.
replace it with a higher voltage cap.

My axis 9 wont play burnt cds

I'm having the same problem with the Axis 9 I just purchased on eBay. And so is the person who posted "Numark Axis 9's. . Problematic. Ahhhh!!!" Seems ridiculous that this would be so common. I definitely don't want to re-burn 100's of CDs just to use this CD player.
