Question about Olympus Camedia C-350 Digital Camera

Olympus Camedia D-565 Problem

The problems began shortly after I purchased the camera. First the photo would freeze and I had to open and close the battery door to release it. As time progressed (and the warranty expired) the problem got worse. The photo would freeze and when I opened and closed the battery door the green lights would flash and camera would beep continuously. I would take the batteries out and they were very hot to touch and all of the power was drained...sometimes after taking just one photo. If I let the camera cool for 15 minutes and put in a fresh set of batteries, it would work for a while, then freeze, then hot drained batteries....then another 15 minutes of cool-down. Finally, a few months ago, the camera stopped working at all even after putting in new batteries. Now when I slide the lens cover over nothing happens. Then a minute or two later the green light near the viewfinder begins to flash and the camera beeps repeatedly. Sometimes both the green and amber lights flash and the camera beeps. This seems to be a common problem in the Camedia line of cameras. I check Ebay all the time and see these cameras being sold for parts or repair because of this same problem (no power or flashing lights but no power to operate). I called Olympus and they say it could be a capacitor problem. The camera takes magnificent photos...better than any of my friends more expensive, higher pixel cameras, so I would like to repair it, but don't want to spend the money if it is going to happen again and again. Any help would be appreciated.

    same problem

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2008

I have a D-560 and it does the same thing, well it doesn't heat the batteries up at all. I love this camera despite a couple of problems. I just wish I had more information than it is a lemon. It worked great the first few years I had it.

D-560 both light flash in the viewfinder and the lens does not come out. It will not turn on. Hardly used this camera its a waste of money. Now I have to go purchase another and will never buy olympus again. I intend to call them on monday and see if they will stand behind this lemon and credit me towards another or just replace it. Its there choice whether I am a return customer or not

Download photos computer

Download photos from any camera is highly unrecommended because that quickly disharges the camera battery. Instead, turn camera off and then open battery door. See picture memory card at camera edge, push in and release to pop up. Then, draw card out of the slot taking care to avoid finger contact with contacts. Close battery door. No insert card into card reader on computer. (Most computers these days have built in reader. USB interface readers can be purchase at low cost.)
If the upload start up dialog does not auto star, then open Computer and double cick open it there. A menu will appear offering wholesalee import you can chose Review Folders in Explorer. Once opened, photos can be handled and stored ot computer like any other file. It is preferable to copy files as opposed to moving them, using camera itself to delete files. Now close Fuji folder and initiate safe removal. When approved, remove memory card and reinsert in camera. Question answered.

Tape door won't open or close to release tape

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV58 Hi-8 Analog Camcorder
1. Per the manual on esupport.sony.com
- if the power is disconnected door won't open, and if the battery is the dead the door won't open.
Plug it in and hopefully you can get the tape out.

Did this work?

Everything in the fridge and drawers began to freeze about 10 months after purchase. Reducing the temperature to as high as 46 F doesn't help.

Check the ice bank door to make sure it is closed properly. It is the door that covers the icemaker. Usually that is the problem that someone has left the door ajar leaking freezing temperature into the refrigerator.

Can't take any photo with my Canon S3IS any more. The view finder and the screen is black when I try to take some photo but I am able to see all photo that is already on my memory card in the view finder...

Look into the lense while setting the shutter speed at a half second or so (slow enough for you to see the shutter open and close) and click the shutter release... you should see the shutter open and close. If you don't see this, then you may have a 'sticky shutter' resulting from lubricant seeping into the shutter/aperature mechanism and preventing the shutter from functioning as it should.(Common problem reported with the S2 and S3 cameras... and probably the S1 as well)

I have gotten my S3IS to take pictures by turning on the power, then opening the battery compartment door and reclosing it repeatedly until the shutter opens (from the power surge) and an image appears on the LCD.

After confirming the sticky shutter was indeed the problem, I pursued a more permanent fix.

Canon G3 camera just stopped working completely

Do you have a way to test the battery and you know it's ok?

Those batteries have built-in protection circuitry that can cut out or turn off the battery entirely if it detected a problem like a short circuit, etc. And it may not get over it.

Try a 2nd battery or the AC power adapter directly.

Also check that the 3 little pins in the camera DC input jack are intact, straight, and not touching each other.

Some camera's won't turn on if the memory card door is open or the card is ejected but I tested that on my G3 and it still turns on either way.

Ah.... and lastly... there is a little electrical limit switch connected to the battery cover door that disables the camera if the battery door is open. It gets pressed by a small plastic piece attached to the battery cover when you close the battery door. If the plastic piece or the tiny, recessed switch has an issue then the camera won't turn on The switch could be bypassed internally (not easy to do) if that was the problem.

Look for a tiny, thin, black plastic switch about as thin as a staple down in a recessed hole (slot) near the battery cover hinge. Try gentle pushing the battery closed switch "over" a little. You can tell which way to push by observing how the battery door slides into position as you close it. I was able to turn on my camera with the door open by doing this.
The switch is very tiny, don't break it.

If the battery door isn't closing all the way that would also cause the same issue.

Nikon D200 has become nearly impossible to grab images

False low-battery warnings, focusing, and metering problems may be the result of poor contact between the body and certain lenses. Try removing your lens and thoroughly cleaning the contacts. I would recommend using a contact cleaner, but rubbing alcohol will also work. Remember that the whole ring needs to be cleaned. If that does not work, try scraping the battery contacts.
