Question about Thorens TD-190 Turntable

1 Answer

My Thorens speed is off

My turntable spins at about 1 second too fast ! I found this out while burning vinyl to cd and the time was always a touch faster than it should have been per the label , all music guide etcetc

    Thanks.

Yeah, I'm sure not going to go poking around with a screwdriver.I'd definitely add more problems. 1 second is really not recognizable by my ear, just annoying for the timing issues I mentioned. Just for information sake, what "variable pot" would I be looking for?
    thanks for your help

1 sec is not all that fast.... with that said you can see if there is a control that you stick a small screw driver under the table or you may have to open it but there should be a variable pot to change speed and most likely if you adjust it it's going to be off more than just 1 sec

Crosley CR249 warped table

Sounds like you need a new platter. Has the platter worked OK before or has it always been like this?
I suspect you might have to contact Crosley to see who supplies parts.

My Thorens TD150 MK2 Phono Turntable Motor will not run or spin with the belt on but will turn without the belt on.What is wrong.

If you can turn the platter easily by hand, then so should the motor. You can also disconect the power leads to the motor and hook up a PP9 9 volt battery to it. If it\'s slow and easily stopped from rotating then there\'s nothing wrong with the power to the motor and the motor is bad!

I own a Thorens td-160 and after decades of good use the 33 speed is not tracking too fast. Is there anyway to adjust the speed?

A small potentiometer on the circuit board. Be gentle and the proper size jewelers screwdriver.

My thorens TD280mkIV won't spin. I've checked the power supply, 16V is getting to motor. When I hit start switch, motor twitches but doesn't spin. I've oiled motor, but turning spindle still feels...

It seems a bit high 16 volts, most motors run at 12 or lower. Sometimes it says the voltage on it! There's one certain way to check if a dc motor is working. Disconect it an stick a 9 volt battery on it. If it doesn't turn with that it's dead!

CD BACKSPIN

CD Mode does not react in the same manner as as Vinyl mode when you try to back spin. At the very least, you will only be able to go back a few bars. It's mainly used to set the Cue properly.

If you want it to back spin, you'll have to use the Vinyl mode.

Turntable spinning too fast

The turntable speed is controlled by a belt, which is virtually a big rubber band. If it spinning too fast , then this means the belt is too tight. The only way this can happen is for the unit to be fitted with an incorrect size belt. You didn't say if you have a new unit, or a second-hand one, or if it has recently had the belt replaced. If it is a new unit and still under warranty, take it back to the retailer and ask them to fix it for you. Again, if you have recently had the belt replaced, take it back and ask them to do the job again, and this time to please use the correct belt. Be polite but firm....If you are a handyman, the job is not too hard to do yourself, and if you need any extra help, just ask, johnatwagga@yahoo.com. To buy the correct belt, you will need the name, model number, and preferably, the serial number. All of these can be found on the back of the unit. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Platter spins very slowly

Well hope fully its something small. check your pitch control first make sure its not set at a slow speed. then check your start stop knobs at the bottom of the table. roll them one way then start it see if that works, then the other way... if its not that then its possibly its a malfunction ,, Numark with there new awesome products but sometimes faulty that turntable wigs out goin slow then normal then slow ect... If its less then a year send it in it is coverd by warrantee
