Question about FireLite (USBFLB80) Hard Drive
My Smartdisk Firelite 80GB stopped working today. I've had it for about 3 years and no problems. It worked this morning around 12:30am and around 9:30am, I plugged it into another comp and nothing. No light-just the sound of the drives spinning. I've changed the cable and tried power, but no light. Is there anything I can do. I need all the files asap. Please help.
I had the same problem with my firelite usbflb80-c, and carefully took the case off, 4 screws (one screw under the void if broken warranty sticker) my drive had somehow wiggled it's way out if the connection pins. Figures, with 5 yrs of use, all the traveling and occasional dropping. So I carefully pushed the drive back in place until I couldn't see connection pins any more. I plugged it into my computer before I closed it back up. THANKFULLY an easy fix, but I double checked for breaks or cracks before I closed it up. :o) YAY, I thought I had lost all my files!

This is a long shot , but i would look and see if you bent the small pins in the female plug on the drive.
