Question about Televison & Video
I have a 2006 Vizio 37 inch LCD that has started to turn itself off randomly.
Sometimes its within a few seconds of me turning it on, other times its hours into the TV being on. Sometimes it turns off once and then is fine and other times it will turn itself off several times in a row.
I called Vizio and, of course, my warranty has expired. I reset the TV per their instructions and have changed power sources, but am still having the problem.
Anyone have any solutions for this? Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!
I had a similar problem with my 32 inch plasma tv. I called vizio's
1 800 number and the guy said to unplug the tv from the wall and hold down the power button for a minute and then plug the tv back in outlet and turn on. And it works I guess from what I understood from his heavy accent was that the tv retains power and this resets it somehow. hope that was helpfull!!

U r in RGB mode. It's the easiest fix ever. There is nothing wrong with ur board or power source. Hold the input button in and power up the TV. It's that simple I promise u....

Unplug everything from the tv: hdmi, pc, cable, and power, then hold the power button on the tv down for like 30 Mississippi seconds and then reconnect power, turn tv on. then one by one plug everything back in.
it worked for me
i was turning my tv on and off for hours then i compiled all that info and tried it.
oh and when your doing all this try to think of a way to save some money to buy a new NON vizio tv.

Problem Solved!!! I recently had same problem just because I got a new wireless router and I didn't set a new password in the TV. After that the TV just shut off by it self every 10-20 minute. Then I tried to reset the it by go MENU> HELP> Clear Memory (Factory Default) After it reboot then set a new router Admin Id & password. And that's it. No more self shutting off. Hope this will help you guys.

I had the same problem with MY Vzio L32 randomly powering itself on and off. The problem Is U26 on the main board. Solder a 10K resister to pins 2 and 3.

Solution: A new wifi extender, or a new or reset wireless modem or router in the range of the TV will cause this problem. Disconnect the TV from wifi, then reconnect manually and this will solve the problem. If you are not comfortable manually setting up the wifi connection you can reset the TV to factory settings and go through the setup process but you will also need to re-program the remote control again. (look in your manual to find instructions).

Mine started doing this yesterday. I reset and it was working then I changed the picture mode to vivid and it starts shutting off again? Now if it’s on any picture setting other than ‘standard’ it shuts off in abou 3-4 minutes.

My 55inch smart vivo tv turns off and about ten seconds later turns on and it happens minimum once a day so I read online where someone said to change cec settings to off going to try this first they said everything connected send signals to tv and when cec settings is on its a firmware glitch and causes tv to do this so we will see I will update soon;)
