I have a GE JVM141H microwave oven that I want to remove. I have the user's manual but not the installation manual. How do I remove it? There aren't any screws holding it from above or the sides.
Hello Allyman,
In order to uninstall your over the range microwave, you'll need the assistance of another person to hold and support it, while you remove the fasteners holding it in place.
If you open up the cabinet above the microwave, you should find two (2) large headed screws/bolts near the front edge of the cabinet. These are what hold the micro in place on the rear wall mounting plate. Unplug the cord from the outlet first, and clear out anything in the cabinet, so you can check to see if there are other screws holding the micro onto the cabinet.
While someone holds the microwave up, so it won't drop onto your range, remove those screws and once you have them out, the micro will be able to be pivoted down from the cabinet and then you'll be able to lift the back edge off the wall mounting bracket. When you do that, feed/pull the power cord out of the hole and you should be all set. Just remove the screws holding the wall mounting bracket onto the back wall and you're all set.
If you're not sure you can handle removing the micro easily, be sure to pull your range out of the way, so you can more easily stand under it and remove it without damaging the stove top, etc.
Here's the installation instructions that will help you locate all the fasteners you need to get at to remove the microwave.

Hi,
GE isn't listing an installation manual for that old of a model. Checkout the closest one I could find that will give you a good idea of how it may be attached.
