The battery door removal seems harder than it is. If you look at the new door you will see in the middle there is a locking tab. You have to keep that piece in mind when removing the old one. I used a very small flat head to pry the plastic part of the old door away from the metal part. Take care to preserve the metal part. After bending and breaking the old plastic piece a bit it eventually popped off. The old plastic door will be mangled but it is useless anyway. The new door slides on to the metal piece and locks into place. It requires a bit of force to remove the old door. I was so worried because I was sure I was going to do more damage but the plastic piece gives long before the metal if you go slow but firm. I hope this helps.

You're making it harder than it has to be. Simply hold the camera in your left hand, and open the battery door so it is standing up. Look closely at the lower left corner of the batterry door. Notice the notch shape. The door plastic door is locked in place by the mating little "L" shape on the hinged door of your camera. Thats all that keeps it from sliding off when you put in batteries. Simply insert a small screwdriver or knife blade in that slot, twist it counterclockwise to push the battery door lock to the left, and slide the door off with no force at all. It's a snap.

I just bought the battery door replacement part from the Sony parts website listed in the 1stposting above (http://www.sony.com/accessories or 800-488-7669). Order part number 269948301 for the battery door. They didn't charge all of the shipping listed on the website because it's such a smallpart. It ended up being $7.74 total, including shipping. Nice surprise!

As for replacing the part, I had success with first using a plastic strip cut out ofa shopper club card to disengage the center snap (see coke bottleposting & pic above). While that was in, I had to push out the little plastic piece witha small screwdriver in order to be able to slide off the door (seepic below).

Folks,

Just a note - that if you call Sony Replacement Parts you will be quoted a different part# that costs $33+. I hung up on them and ordered the part listed above, which was indeed $4.99, and it worked perfectly.

RONTOONS was perfectly correct in replacement directions.
Solution #4 is a perfect picture of the process.

I took a plastic coke bottle and cut a piece about half inch wide and 4 inches long. i wiggled it between the metal and the plastic door. you have to close the door a little to disengauge the lock mechanism. it slides right off after. no broken pieces and no aggravation. I dropped the camera on a tough floor right where battery door is at. The hard plastic base (runs around the corners) that supports holding the door are all broken into small pieces. So for a new door there is no support. The lid thing totally came off of the camera right when it broke. Is there a solution for this? I have metals, and small rod with its grooves with detoriated plastics.

Hi, all the methods above did not work except one. Use a small screw driver and poke it in the small hole between the positive and the negative terminals. This will release the snap fit. Then the door should slide through. Please donot try putting in plastic pieces in between the metal and the door. its a waste of time

Hey, removing the old door is as simple as learning to speak spanish!! here is how a got it away......do you see the small hole in the middle ? is right betwen the negative and positive sign. insert a small screwdriver and push...at the very same moment use one finger nail to pull the small plastic lock, at the right inferior corner of the lid, it will come off right away. no force needed or else.

good look. from: one Mexican Dude, from Hermosillo.

I had the same problem as everyone else. There are several sellers on ebay. Pick one. Mine was $9.95 including shipping. A lot cheaper than the $175 the local camera store was gonna charge to fix this. The key is to follow previous info left to remove the old door. Once you have that done the new door just slides right on the metal piece that was left after removal of the old door.

Any instructions on how to remove/replace the battery door?

Posted on Feb 10, 2008

Mine is also broken, this is a brutally bad design and Sony should be standing behind this with a better fix than another door with less then a half a square millimeter of thin plastic holding the door shut against the batteries which are spring loaded to push against it.

Does anyone have appropriate contacts at Sony to discuss the options for getting a replacement CAMERA for this model??

Posted on Feb 08, 2008

Go to sony.com and i only paid $4 for the door and the total including shipping was about $10... no i'm trying to find out how to get the old one off so i can get this one on!

My batterry door is broken I don't know how to put

KODAK doesn't sell battery doors for any of their models.

A repair for this fault is 24,47 pounds + shipping to the repair centre.
If you already have the battery door; I suggest you will have a local camera TECH to attach the door to the unit.

Battery Door Broken

So far, I was able to find a camera like mine on Ebay that was being sold cheap for parts only, because the LCD was broken. I figure that this amounts to probably what I'd be paying if Kodak offered to sell me a replacement battery door (which they do not). Kodak only considers the wrist strap a "user-serviceable item." Maybe so, but I intend to try to fix this myself. If anyone has done this successfully before, please write. Otherwise, will let you know how it goes.
